Meh, I have played it plenty of times as I am an Illaoi main, and I have almost always crushed lane.

I am low elo, so I might just be playing against sucky darius players. But once you get 6 you can pretty much one shot him if you can get 4 tentacles or so.

Don't get me wrong, a good Darius CAN beat Illaoi, but assuming equal skill she can go tit for tat.

you never mentioned stage of game :P and technically all of them but yas ((maybe not trundle) could 1v1 darius at lv1 (olaf q reset+passive, trundle ad steal, jax dodge so no bleed stacks, trynd 5 rng crits)

hmm true. but i doubt trynd could at 1v1. iv killed 3 trynd at lvl1 all i had 2 do was q 2 times and then force fight i not sure at which point i cant beat him cause we mostly win before it or it turns into a team fight. olaf can be a pain pre-3 and around post-16. im not really sure of jax cause the jax iv fought mostly built damage so i dodge their stun and game over for them. iv never had troble with yas cause all i have 2 do i aa his shield, q, aa+w(if he fights) or hook+aa+w+aa(if he runs) then ult, trundle is some one i cant beat beat 1v1 as dar late game if u both have ult or near minnions cause of his passive+hydra.

well yea. because they have better lifesteal and AS. but i think i said early to mid. most of the time. i just never fought anyone other then trundle late game. i win by mid or early late. i never talked about beating them 1 on 1 late. it was about beating them 1 on 1 lvl 1

That's true enough, but you also don't have many people asking to 1v1 early game either.

Main thing is that Darius has no real easy ways to kill the ghouls and his base attack speed is really slow, meaning he is likely to have to blow a spell to get rid of the wall.

Meaning Yorick can harass him much like a ranged character from the moment he gets 4 graves up onwards. Since Dar isn't likely to make Yorick too weak to fight before Yorick hits level 2 (unless you're hit by mad cheese) so the moment ghouls appear all it takes is for Yorick to hit a flask and then Dar has to straight up run away to fight them safely.

Trundle as well with the AD steal and passive healing that doesn't require any interaction between the two. And Trundle can get right inside Darius' no-no square with E and W, removing enemy healing and damage at the same time when he gets in. Essentially making Trundle one of the few melees that actually benefits from a skirmish with Darius as long as he picks fights with the bleed in mind.

yeah, as long as you dodge his q with your q, you just auto win, you do need to be pretty aggresive early on though, later on when he gets tankier he can probably win long drawn out fights, you need sheen and tiamat early to kill him quick

If your only option to 1v1 a champion whose intended role is top lane is to pick something that doesn't belong at top lane, there's an issue.

Jax can 1v1 Darius at almost any point in the game. Even early, once Darius hooks you you just turn on your E, and the only bleed he can hit you with is the one on his Q. Other champs include Teemo, Pantheon, Swain, Quinn, Kayle, and Aatrox can even fight him through max stacks most of the time.

Eh, any melee dps carries will 1v1 him after a couple of items (not implying that he doesn't have items, just on equal ground). He only beats them early game. Lategame MasterYi item 3072 item 3046 item 3031 item 3087 item 3006 item 3036 just press R and rightclick, face tank everything he throws and still win.

Yasuo vs Darius I've seen this matchup way too may times, usually Yas gets dumpstered for 20 minutes, then somehow later, wins every 1v1 when Darius comes back to lane to stop his splitpush. He's just a lane bully and decent teamfighter, but he is far from being the best duelist.

Jax will only win that half the time, and it's based solely on whether or not the Darius was stupid enough to hook first instead of waiting for Jax to initiate and do his combo after the dodge. Teemo, Swain, Quinn, and Kayle are not intended for top lane, and only go there as niche picks against opponents who can't gap close.

Aatrox is in the same boat as Jax, but has even fewer ways to counter Darius.

Pantheon is the only real counter that has a chance. The others are the top-lane rangers who specifically require you to have picked second to be able to pick.

Jax will never lose the lane if he doesn't initiate, and if he doesn't initiate he outscales Darius. Jax doesn't lose the lane "half the time", the player's stupidity does.

Swain has a 62% playrate top vs a 26% playrate mid Quinn has a 60% playrate top, opposed to a 16% playrate adc. Teemo has an 82% playrate top, opposed to an 8% playrate support Kayle has a 69% playrate top opposed to a 19% playrate mid. They're all top laners, and they have the potential do do fine vs a lot of ranged matchups because at some point of the game, they either melt everything in range ( Swain Kayle ), burst hard ( Quinn ) or invalidate carries ( Teemo Kayle )
