For that scene alone it belongs on top.
Never forget the jedi who lasted second longest......
Rest in peace Kit Fisto, one of the most underrated Jedi http://66.media.tumblr.com/7ae6df266dff0f996ab6ac1539cd57e4/tumblr_nz0penKptN1siznydo6_500.gif
Just started looking up forums on Palpatine vs Windu and Yoda.......Got so unbelievably triggered I am mad now, lol.
Lol, what did the forums say? Combat wise I would say Mace Windu > Palpatine >Yoda. Although I think Palpatine knew that he would lose the fight and Anakin would save him. So wisdom wise Yoda and Palpatine are extremely similar, with Mace Windu behind both of them.

That in both fights Palpatine was toying with them and could have easily won.
I don't think there is anyone strong enough to toy with Master Yoda. And Palpatine had no motivation, as there wasn't an audience. It was just Yoda trying to kill him in a 1 vs 1.
And I think he knew that he would lose the fight to Windu (and lose he did), but was convinced Anakin would save him. Mace Windu was a on a whole other level in combat. It took Darth Sideous' full power, and a surprise attack by Anakin Skywalker just to bring him down. http://49.media.tumblr.com/30dbeddae15b8e3f95c2389691a1036e/tumblr_nz7dvupide1rp0vkjo1_500.gif
I think a lot of people dont understand Mace Windu's fighting style Vaapad, or his ability to see shatterpoints in both structures and situations.
Sidious was an older man that required alot of force power to fight with speed and overwhelm his opponents. His true power lay in the force. However Vaapad is a clear counter as part of the technique employs allowing force attacks to flow through you and directing it back at your opponent.
This gave Mace a clear advantage in the fight with Sidious, and even though he isn't as strong in the force he was still able to counter everything Sidious threw at him. It is also shown when Sidious attempts to use force lighting and has it directed back at him.
Sidious lost the fight, but the arrival of Anakin gave him time to stall and draw Anakin closer to the darkside. Thus taking the advantage in the end.
Exactly. Sidious wasn't toying with him. He hit him with everything he had, and Mace Windu just threw it back at him. He could kill him with a lightsaber, and couldn't kill him with the force. If Anakin hadn't fallen to the dark side at that exact moment, that would have been the end of Darth Sidious.

Finally people understand!
Also what giant Star Wars thread did I just create...
With the Yoda fight, from the very start Sidious attempts to escape and they both underestimate each other and exchange early blows.
However you will notice throughout the entire fight Sidious is retreating from Yoda's attacks. Every Lightsaber lock results in Yoda forcing Sidious back again. When Sidious is throwing the senate pods Yoda has a clear disadvantage and must dodge them, but is able to catch one and send it back. But Sidious appears to be unable or unprepared and is forced to jump out of the way rather then use the force to stop it.
The final show down of force power clearly shows Sidious get overwhelmed by Yoda's power but unfortunately Sidious had slightly better footing and didn't fall.
In the end Yoda runs becuase he realizes he has lost the advantage. He had lost his lightsaber, the high ground, and Sidious had called for reinforcements.
A very good point. Darth Sidious couldn't block or counter Yoda's attacks, he could only survive them. He had the numbers advantage with reinforcements coming, and he had the physical advantage of being able to hold on and balance himself better with his body than Yoda could. The fact Yoda did so well despite being so physically outmatched is a demonstration of his insane amount of power.
It is also worth noting that while both threw the other across the room in an early exchange of blows, due to Yoda's age and small stature that would hurt him a lot more.
No only that but Yoda's fighting style is Ataru. Sidious' is a master of All fighting styles as he's trained many sith's in Juyo. So in my opinion Sidious would beat Yoda. Don't forget Sidoious' fighting style focuses on making his opponent think he's won then dealing a fatal blow.
I think you are confusing Sidious' style with the art of Dun'Moc which is a technique commonly used by sith to trick their opponents to making mistakes and rash decisions during combat.
It is widely believed that Sidious utilized Niman which employs all of the fighting styles. Although you can see that he clearly focuses on the forms Ataru and Juyo. But remember that knowing all the forms doesn't guarantee an advantage over someone who has only mastered one.
It wasn't his skill with a lightsaber that allowed him to take on four jedi at once, it was his power in the force.
And in both cases he was shown to be outmatched by his opponents. Mace's style directly countered Sidious' power with the force and he lost the fight because of it. And Yoda demonstrated a slight superiority in the force and had a very good chance of winning if not for some misfortune footing.
Not denying that in the end he survived both encounters. But there was clearly alot more luck on his side then people want to admit.
It's a fight that I agree Yoda lost. But not due to lack of skill or power but rather unfortunate circumstances. They are pretty equal but I would say Yoda showed he was slightly more powerful.
Hmm, I see what you mean. In a battle that close, any advantage gained through luck or circumstance could turn the tides.
Although it is worth noting Yoda was very old and far past his prime, and still nearly killed Palpatine. https://media.giphy.com/media/nXL9VGgtpwkjC/giphy.gif
Both would have relied more on the force to power them through their fights. Both are pretty equal in terms of fighting skill. But just from the movie Yoda is shown to overpower Sidious with his lightsaber and with the force.
Overall I would say that Yoda has the advantage in skill and power considering his clear height and weight disadvantage.
As old and small as Yoda is, he needs to use a decent amount of force power to even kill a combat droid. When not channeling the force he can barely walk. And yet despite that he can still stand up to a powerful Sith lord. Yoda is a boss indeed.

tfw 3 and 7 are only peoples favorites because they were changed from the original script to fit millennials mindsets and appeal to the audience
{quoted} Overall I would say that Yoda has the advantage in skill and power considering his clear height and weight disadvantage.
Episode 3 was "Oh, crap! We spent 2 movies and we're still not any closer to connecting this to the main trilogy! Info dump, info dump, info dump!"
How much did they try and cram into the last 20-30 minutes? Formation of Darth Vader, birth of the twins, naming of the twins, splitting them up, forming the Alliance... I feel like there was more too, but it's been too long since I've seen it.
Episode 7 was the obligatory "take it slow, show lots of respect for the other movies so people don't think you're ruining the franchise". It's good, better than 3, but I think it'll be surpassed. Plus the whole "they really just built a bigger Death Star..." is kind of a low point for it.
I think 5 comes in as a favorite because it shows how truly desperate the Rebels are. It stops being the "Yeah! I'm going to join the Rebels and save the day!" story it was in 4, really trying our characters and seeing what they do under pressure.
Episode III had the greatest fight scenes in the franchise, we had the corruption of Anakin Skywalker, Darth Sideous got plenty of screen time, and overall just had more emotional depth.
We see this once great man falling to darkness, not out of malice, but out of love and fear. He didn't want to see those he loved die, and was willing to do anything to save them, no matter how violent. But once you cross that line, once you are wiling to do evil acts (even for a good cause), there is no going back. You have fallen. His fight with Obi-Wan was a true masterpiece.
And Episode 7 was meant to mirror Ep. 4. The point of the movie was that, no matter what the factions call themselves or who is involved, the real battle is between the Light Side and the Dark Side. The war between the two is like a never ending dance. The First Order may think themselves special somehow, just like the Empire did, but ultimately they are the same evil.
Also, Kylo Ren is an incredible villain. He is so unstable and unhinged, he might just wipe out an entire village because he is having a bad day. https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8afWUYp7xAQ/VnY8FBO2I0I/AAAAAAAAISQ/dNe8D0qseOU/s1600/ZgA6cgX.gif
It was designed to mirror Episode 4, yes, but did it really need to be another Death Star?
Think of all the fighting scenes involving Starkiller Base. You've got interior passageways, you've got big facilities being bombarded from the outside, you've got an X-wing flying tight loops on the inside of a building. None of that required a bigger Death Star. And this splinter remains of the Empire somehow had the money and engineering knowledge to build this, yet not the brains to realize "every time we've done this we've never blown up more than two plants..."
Maybe I'm a little salty about it because I remember reading a Star Wars book way back where the Empire had developed a specialized ship (Millennium Falcon size?) deliver torpedoes which would make a sun go supernova, which feels like a bigger threat than than a huge target like the Starkiller Base.
Ah yes, the Sun Crusher from the Jedi Academy Trilogy
I wish that were still canon ;w;

-It angers easily and will not hesitate to attack anything.
-Quick to anger, it will begin brawling on the slightest provocation. It is unsafe to approach as it is very nimble.
