All things considered Barrier is actually good on him; it has pretty great synergy with his passive as it lets him regen without getting finished off. I like Barrier on Tryndamere as well since it helps him not worry about popping Q to stay alive in early duels and offers him some extra protection while at low HP, when he gets the most benefit from his Q.
