Actually I played Tahm Kench for my first time after getting him first game went well, got an A- and I could two shot minions when my item was up

Yeah, but you're meele, by the time you get to the minion, the adc already once shotted it.

It's annoying when they focus the same minion that you're trying to proc it.

At least you're half useful in clearing super minions if you're losing since you do more damage than them that way.

Unless you're buying cheap items, still proccing the item works. Sometimes it's best if you gain additional gold to late sell your support item for something else if the game lasts for too long.

Most of the time its just an honest mistake, not like we don't want you to proc it or anything. Its a free heal after all. I'm sorry if I took your cannon minion but CSing with Jhin is already hard as it is. You'll get the next one :)

Sorry for the confusion caused by the previous comment, now that i look at it my statement was phrased poorly. The fact is I know it gives gold to both parties. All ADC mains know. At this point this is probably one of the most common generalizations about ADC mains. If someone doesn't know they're probably learning to play ADC which is nothing to be ashamed about.

See, that is my game face. People shouldn't care so much about CS anway. Its just 20 gold per kill, nothing special.

Nah its pretty important for supports considering they already have a limited gold income. I'm just saying most ADCs are aware of this and If they do make it hard for the Support to proc targons it was probably unintentional.

Sometimes when I'm the adc, I ping the cannon minions when I see my support with a stack of targon's, like I'm saying "Hey, go get it, it's your reward!"

I'm really scared that my Thresh is going to miss it, okay?

(Every time I lane with a Thresh, I don't know which minions he wants for himself. Each minion that is about to die while Thresh has a Spoils of War buff on him is a gamble for me. Does he want that one, or is he waiting until we're lower health? Does he want the Cannon minion? Can I trust him to actually kill the Cannon minion, or will he be ten hit points off and lose us both 44 gold?)

This is a pretty big problem with low-elo Threshes. Having been on both sides of this equation, it's a little bit scary and a whole lot of uncertain. Since he doesn't get the execute (because ranged) and has his ridiculously-long AA windup (because Thresh), he has to know exactly how much damage he does and how fast it'll apply. This takes a lot of practice, but that learning curve can be a bit rough for everyone involved. It feels terrible to cause your ADC to miss CS because you're still learning how to last-hit properly on Thresh, but practicing in customs beyond basic last-hitting practice with him can be a bit difficult due to how his E passive works. Trying to fight with your ADC (or even having your ADC try to set it up for you; it's an awful feeling to watch it die while your AA winds up because it took an unexpected spike of damage) only makes it harder. At the same time, the ADC is risking a lot by letting a new Thresh try to last-hit minions.

To make matters worse, support Thresh is expected to be hard engage, which he can't be without having the gold to build tank items early, which in turn he can't do if he doesn't get cannon minions. Strength of the Ages has helped some, since it gives low-elo Threshes a much more visible personal incentive to practice last-hitting. You can't really trust some random low-elo ADC you don't know to last-hit enough cannons to make that mastery useful. Unfortunately, it also makes it worse during the learning process, since missing the last hit is even more punishing.

One thing that bothers me about a lot of Thresh players is that they don't realise that they can proc the Targon items by killing a minion in any way, not just with last-hits.

If they don't know how to last-hit properly and don't have their Flay passive up, they can use Flay (the active) to last hit one or more minions quickly and safely, at the cost of a cooldown and a bit of mana.

I almost never see them actually do this, even in safe times late-game when no enemies are around and they don't need the spell in the immediate future.

It's a bit of a risky proposition in lane, when you might need those abilities at any time to do your job (peel or engage), but I know what you mean. Other tanky supports have this issue too (have you ever seen a low-elo Alistar use his passive deliberately?), but Threshes can be particularly bad about it. I think it's due to mindset issues with his kit: Thresh's Q and E are rather celebrated for their fairly unique means of applying CC, and it's easy to get so trapped in that mindset - so focused on the "big plays" - that other possible uses for them are forgotten.
