"Ranked Flex is just another Normals mode"

One of my teammates said this in a game earlier (We were getting stomped pretty bad but like, It's like that sometimes) and two of my teammates were hardcore raging and him. Understandable it is ranked. And he then says this line and they go into a frenzy lol

But I've been thinking about this since then and Have had teammates have a similar thought process but not actually saying these words. I wanted to ask you guys what you thought about this particular line of thinking. Is Flex not as important as Solo/Duo queue or do you think this guy is completely wrong?

My opinion on this is: if you're not a 5-players premade team, you're not fully using the Flex mode.

If you go alone or duo in flex, you're basically playing ranked without engaging your soloQ rank, so you don't really care. If you go by 3, you're needing 2 other players picked in the previous category, so you're pretty much asking for low-quality mates.

If you go as a full team, you don't have any random, so none of them will slack off unless you accept it. You can improve as a team and not just as a sum of individuals, so you can access to the actual True Flex queue where you have to cooperate and you have the tools to really do it.

That’s basically my attitude with flex.

I’ll still try hard, but unless I’m playing with friends, I’m more likely to pull out different champions to work on my champion pool (even if x champ is one I haven’t played in years), or playing my off roles.

I could do the same on my smurf, but then I wouldn’t be able to use the nice skins I have for champs I don’t often play, and wouldn’t be playing vs mostly solo queue diamond + for real practice.

Solo queue is more important than flex queue if you care about how other players see you. Doesn’t mean you can’t have fun climbing in flex with friends or by yourself.

It’s also not much of a troll fest after you reach a high enough MMR, you’ll learn when you start getting the fun police playing funnel comps vs your team.

I think flex and solo/duo que are the same of importance.

You can play solo in either mode.

Flex gives you the ability to work with a team you know instead of being with randoms.

I have friends that say "flex doesn't matter". It's still ranked, you just can group as a 5 man if you want.
