Spit-balling some ideas towards Account Merges in the same Region.

I'm sure that there are more players like myself who have multiple accounts, and on each account we have some skins or summoner icons and we wish they were all in one place. The reason why we have multiple accounts you might ask, some people played long ago and forgot their info and just made new accounts, then remembered their info. It can be quiet cumbersome having to swap accounts just to get to play a certain champ, show case a skin or summoner icon. I would know.. Here, I would like to spitball some idea's towards getting same region account merger's and make the days of account hopping a thing of the past.

This is my proposal of the idea of a "semi-merge".. Remember, I'm just spit-balling here so players, don't take this info to heart, just thumbs up it and request it to RIOT and we may be able to get same region mergers!

  • Have the player who wants the account merger provide both summoner and account name of the accounts they wish to merge.
  • The RIOT squad looks at the profiles, OK's the motion, and proceeds to "gift" the main account the players want the merger to apply to all the skins, champs, and summoner icons.
  • If the player has bought a character or skin and through the process of the "gifting" they get the same champ or skin, then they get a 50% IP refund for champions and a 75% refund of RP for skins.
  • The account mergers must happen all at once, not one merger today and another merger 7 months from now or even 3 days (using "now" as a measurement of time, not actually saying its happening today). If you have multiple accounts, lets say that you have 4 accounts. This means you must decide on if you want all the 3 other accounts to merge into the main one, or not. If you decide to merge one account, you end up having 3 accounts and can no longer merge any of the remaining two accounts into the 3rd bigger account. If you decide you want to merge all 4 accounts into one, it will then proceed to delete the old accounts, and gift you the corresponding purchases. This will make it so people wont make new accounts and merge it into the mega account.
  • You can only merge into a level 30 or the highest level account from among the accounts you have listed.
  • I am using the term "gifting" to get this upcoming meaning across. It opens up the little treasure chest "gift" and when you accept your gift (Mandatory, can't exit game or do anything until you have accepted all the "gifts") it checks to see if you already have the summoner icon, skin, or champion. If you have the champion or skin already, it refunds the amount I mentioned earlier. If its a summoner Icon, it disregards if you have it already. "Gifting" will ensure that IP, RP, and account Wins will not be transferred. This will also ensure ensure that people wont make 20 smurf accounts that will transfer the level 4 RP bonus or whatever (400 RP I believe).

How one would apply for the merger.

You can't have it be some super vague process of, "whomever we deem most deserving" because if that's the case, then it will only be the, what most members of league define as, "Pro-players" and the big spenders (People who have spent a lot of real money on League of Legends). The process should be whoever wants the merger, but they must provide the summoner name and account names of the accounts they wish to merge.

Why the refunds?

It would be mighty frustrating to spend $100 buying the same skins twice, and then when the account merges, you lost $50, so the 75% refund on RP ensures that players will be able to spend their RP on something else while also giving RIOT their revenue. Plus, it gives the illusion of "free" RP, which I know everybody loves. As for the IP it can be annoying having to grind through games and then buy the same character on two accounts just so you can play that character on the account you're playing on at the moment. Lets see, if you do the math (I think this is correct, don't hate if its not), lets assume every game was a /ff at 20 and each game you earned 150IP. How many games would it take to get a 6300 champ? 6300 / 150 = 42. So that's 42 game at 20 minutes a piece, so 42 * 20 = 840, that's 840 minutes, then to get hours we do 840 / 60, right? That comes out to be 14 hours. But lets be for real here, not every game is a /ff at 20, and you don't win every game or get 150 IP each game. So you can see, it would be rather annoying if you bought a.. I dunno.. DariusDarius across 2 or even 3 accounts and not get any of that time you spent farming the IP to get it. This raises the question of, "What if I bought a champion with RP instead of IP?" Well then I say, too bad, since each individual champion can be purchased with IP, I think it would only be fair if RIOT gave you the common currency of IP instead of RP. You may not think it's fair, but the truth is, this is the gaming industry and people need to make money. If you're willing to spend your money on buying something that can be earned through playing the game, then Kudos to you, but it would be easiest for RIOT to just refund the champion at 1/2 Total IP just so players can't say, "I spent YYY RP on this champion, I demand a refund for it!" when in actuality, they bought it while it was on sale for, NNN. This also brings up skins purchases, maybe the player bought the skin while it was on sale. The only way to really check and see, is to look at the Purchase history of each account, but if you look, the purchase history resets every so often and I do not think that RIOT actually has any thing dedicated to tracking your purchases. Therefore, skins should be at 75% Total RP, that way, even if the skin was on sale, they don't get twice as much RP as they should.

I really hope that who ever decided to actually take the time and read this post is happy with it and I just want you all to remember, I am just spit-balling ideas here to better satisfy the player community. Players, please post comments, thumbs up, +1 or do whatever it is you do, but if you're going to leave a comment, I hope it is something constructive and not something mean or hateful or troll-like. RIOT employees, if you read this, please take it to heart. It's not just me who is hoping for same server merges, its quiet a bit of players. Everybody, please share this link, get this message out there, the more we bring this topic up, the more likely it is that RIOT will do something about it.

Thank you all very much for reading this post, and one last note, Best of luck in the Fields of Justice!

This idea of merging accounts, though it may seem like a great thing may in-fact lead to more hackers trying to steal player info from RIOT servers. So that is why I believe that the players should also link their IP-Address that way RIOT can compare it to the last (some arbitrary number) played games of that account's IP-Address (yes I do believe they keep track of this information somewhere). This will help to make sure that the players are who they say they are.

I will continue to post problems and solutions that I think of until I cannot think of any others. If any of you reading this discussion thread see any problems, please post it and if you can, provide an answer. If you cannot think of a solution to the problem, then state it at the end by saying something along the lines of, "I cannot think of any way to counter this problem".

Thank you all very much for reading this discussion, please post constructive comments and remember, this is just an idea I'm trying to get rolling so that players can get their rare skins from old accounts onto their more played, more recent accounts. Good luck to all of you in the Fields of Justice!

I have been thinking... What if somebody made a bunch of accounts and used the RP to buy skins that were on sale? Here is my solution to that, the person merging accounts can only merge up to 4 accounts into 1. Also, all the accounts will have to be level 20 or higher, all feeding into the largest account, or which ever account they specify if it there are multiples of the highest level (30). This will eliminate anyone from creating a multitude of accounts to get skins that are on sale. This is using the same premise as the Gifting Tab in the shop, minus having to be on each-others friends list.

I hope this helps to get the snow-ball rolling!

Thank you all for reading!

Good luck in the Fields of Justice!

Wow... 5 months has passed since I posted this. Re-reading it, it actually looks like a solid idea. Except for one thing... Incentive for RIOT to want to do it. They won't be making money if they allow the merges be for free. That is why I think it should be something like... I dunno, $5 per account that you are merging (up to the aforementioned 4 accounts). This way you spend $20 which is roughly a Legendary or Ultimate skin right? I think Ultimate's (3250 RP) are something like $25 USD so I guess it would be slightly closer to Legendary (1890 RP) pricing if you wanted to merge 4 accounts. This "Pay to Merge" Idea would allow RIOT to make some more $$$ while still allowing players to combine accounts so they have all their skins and champions in one place.

Please, If you just read this comment and nothing else, I encourage you to read the entire post. That includes all the comments I have made.

Feel free to Up-vote, Down-vote or Maybe-vote this idea.

As always, Thank you all very much for taking the time to read this. I hope it wasn't a complete waste of your time. Good luck and have fun in the Fields of Justice!
