I worked really hard on this cosplay, and even though I don't really have Riven's "look" physically, I am very, very attached of the Battle Bunny Riven sword that I made from scratch.
I am very proud of my sword. ;w; ♥ It was very hard to make up here in Alaska, where we really don't have many stores to buy things to make things with.
It's blade is made out of recycled pink-colored insulation board foam that came stuffed around a piece of furniture, don't remember what kind it was. It was free so, no money spent on the majority of the sword. I just used a serrated (jagged) kitchen knife to "saw" out the shape by hand after drawing the basic outline on the foam board. I then just kept sawing the sides at an angle, until it looked like it had edges. I used an Exacto knife to fine tune everything and cut out the "holes" in the blade.
I only purchased the paint that I used to paint it, the clay molded as the "leafy" part of the sword. The clay is actually an air dry clay, and it's a bit heavy but I like the weight that the handle and the "leaves"/clay put onto the bottom of the sword. The base of the handle is made of both recycled and purchased PVC pipe pieces.
I don't think I spent more than 20 U.S. Dollars over all (not even that much). I bought one small piece of the PVC pipe for a couple dollars, just to connect the rest together. And then I bought 2 shades of orange, one shade of green, and black paint. I already had white. The paint is just plain ol' latex indoor/outdoor paint, I just bought small "sample" sized paint. I also had a silver paint pen in my desk, that I used to make a small outline on the grey areas of the blade.
Unfortunately when I was taking these pictures, the bottom piece of the handle (the thickest part, that has a "stem" look to it), broke off of the sword. I used epoxy glue to put it on, so I'm going to have to try something else because it won't stay on properly. Something about the clay and paint makes it not want to stick correctly.
And that's about it! I just finished making Bewitching Nidalee and French Maid Nidalee's spears using about this same exact method for the spear heads, with left over insulation board from what I didn't use on the sword.
Thank you very much for stopping by ~ Any tips of other in-expensive or recycling type ways/materials for making cosplay props for League champions would be greatly appreciated! My next desired projects are Star Guardian Lux's staff, Yasuo's Blade, Heart Seeker Ashe's Bow, DJ Sona's DJ-Table ((WOULD LOVE, but looks EXPENSIVE to make!)), Thresh's Lantern.
(( Please no "Who Fed Riven!?" type comments... >////<;; I'm very, VERY shy in real life, and insecure... and I'm trying to make myself break out of my shell by finally showing some of the cosplays I've made. I've made quite a few before... But, I've been too shy up until now, throwing myself WAY out of my comfort zone. I know I'm not really "skinny enough" to cosplay most characters. But please don't be mean, I already know I'm not skinny! ;w; ))
