“The vicious wraith Mordekaiser is among the most terrifying and hateful of spirits that haunt the Shadow Isles. Entombed in ancient armor, the Master of Metal is said to be the first of the unliving, a revenant who existed even before the Shadow Isles were wrought. His twisted soul thrives on his own suffering, as well as the anguish he inflicts upon others. Those who dare face Mordekaiser in battle risk a horrific curse: he enslaves his victims' souls to become instruments of destruction.” -League of Legends, Riot quote

Once, Mordekaiser was a wealthy landowner and husband. His wife was a beautiful maiden, the envy of all of Zaun. To some he was the luckiest man alive, but to others he was a rung on the ladder to greatness and power. As a once-great general in the Zaun military, his notoriety as a ruthless and cunning leader was well earned. Many stories were wrought about his exploits of pushing his men further and more fervently into the heart of battle than any other general during the great Rune Wars. Survivors told of his manipulative personality, tugging his men along as if they were puppets. His armor, now on display in the heart of his estate, along with his infamous mace, were made of seemingly impenetrable metal that sung in the heat of battle.

On one humid night, several soldiers sought to pay back Mordekaiser for his ways. They made such a clatter, however, that they woke his wife with a fright. Screaming, she was taken away from the estate. Woken by the clamor and commotion, he found signs of a struggle and dawned his old armor and grabbed his mace, following the screams to the woods. It was there that an ambush was set and sprung. Yet, not matter what they threw at Mordekaiser, his armor sung and sparked as it shrugged off each blow. Swinging his mace with great power and precision, he crushed and mangled each soldier, laughing and reveling in their screams of terror.

When all was done he found his wife in a crumpled mess, her throat slit. Consumed by grief, he went back to the mangled bodies of his would-be assassins and began smashing into them again and again with his mace, laughing and giggling jovially. When Mordekaiser would return to his home, he found it alight and began laughing again as he carried his wife's body into the raging inferno, laying her onto their bed. Instead of weeping, the city responders say they heard maniacal laughter. Once the fires were snuffed, all they could find was the suit of armor, empty, and the bloodied mace. A service was held for the two lovers at the location of their marriage, the Shadow Isles, a lush forest.

During the opening of the barrier between death and life on the Isles, the buried suit of armor shuddered and rose from it's grave, bearing the mace. Laughter ensued as the armored figure glanced at his wife's long-rotted corpse, raising her spirit as a banshee with a wave of his hand. Mordekaiser had risen and now seeks revenge on the living while using the dead as his own, personal army. His armor and mace still sings in battle, glinting as if still new and casting reflections of the fires from that night, so many years ago.

*I plan on editing and revising quite a bit of this, as this piece is my first draft. If it gets enough positive feedback or criticism then I'll likely do more of these for other champions whom have lacking lore. Hey Riot, maybe you should hire me for the lore team? Just kidding, but not really kidding, I love this stuff, hire me.
