[ Champion Suggestion] Andrew, the Glorious Prodigy
Lore: Slowly, he opens his eyes. What stands before him is a faded figure, a tall man with glowing eyes. The man whispers: "From this moment on your name shall be Andrew. Your past has no meaning anymore for the future is what we must behold!" The man, still examining the freshly awakened boy, had a leery face which quickly faded into a face filled with proud. Then the boy , who can now see the surrounding clear enough to determine his current state and situation, stands up and, upon realizing that his body was made of partly flesh and partly machine, stops for a short moment of shock and confusion. Although he could not remember any details about his past, he felt like his current state is vaguely normal. "Sadly still, you are but a frail construct and for that very reason I entrust you with Martin. It is now your companion and will compensate for your imperfection. Now go and bring forth more wonders! Show the world what I am capable of! I shall foretell a great future and a quick completion of the evolution!" the man said eagerly, as if completly possessed by his ideals. Compared to the tall man, Martin however, was not tall at all, Martin wasn't even human. A cubic contraption, floating smoothly in the air, seems to stare at the young boy with a gleaming eye. The boy, having no objections, no wishes and no memories, accepted the name Andrew and accepted Martin as his partner. He would make his way out of the small room in which he was sleeping, following him was Martin, the flying construct, and together they embraced the still unknown world of Runeterra. Their journey would start in Zaun...
The lore gives several hints as to what I imagined this champ to be. An android-like boy with a cubic machine floating in the air. In my imagination, Andrew has two mechanic arms, which overflow with electricity; the central part and left half of his upper body are mechanized and his head is covered by somewhat of a metallic helmet. Martin, the flying cubic contraption, can seperate itself into 4 pieces and he uses them to generate electric potential. The cube itself has a small shield to protect it and Andrew from greater harm.
Champion stats: HEALTH: 342.0 (+61) HEALTH REGEN.: 6.42 (+0.55) ATTACK DAMAGE: 48.7 (+2.8) ATTACK SPEED: 0.642 (+0.96%) ATTACK RANGE: 500 (Ranged) MANA: 260 (+60) MANA REGEN.: 7 (+0.8) ARMOR: 15.0 (+3,0) MAGIC RES.: 30 (+0) MOV. SPEED: 330
The stats suggest that he is rather fragile, but the reason for this will be clear when talking about his abilities, which will follow immediately. Andrew is a mage (or support if used like Annie, etc.) who uses long range abilities to catch reckless opponents off-guard. This would mean more than certain death to high prority targets, because his impairing effects would pretty much leave them extremely helpless, but not completly isolated so there's still little hope, making Andrew counterable (besides his extreme fragility).
Abilities: Andrew and Martin specialize in discharging high amounts of electricity and strike together to maximize their efficiency.
Passive - The Wicked Contraption Martin floats in a circle around Andrew (needs 8 seconds for a full cicle) and can intercept projectiles directed at Andrew if Martin stands between Andrew and the projectile. Martin has 65 (+0.25xAP) (+15x[ChampionLevel]) health points and is damaged when intercepting a projectile for Andrew (damage dealt to Andrew is instead dealt to Martin). If Martin is overkilled, Andrew will take the damage Martin could not take. While outside of combat for at least 6 seconds: Martin restores 8,3% of his maximum HP every second. If Martin is destroyed, it is restored after 6 seconds and respawns at the current angle of view of Andrew and starts circling around him.
This seems like a neat little device. I thought Martin would have a hitbox with a width of ~55. Andrew himself can try to position himself so that he can avoid most damage in trades and still has a window of opportunity for the enemy (because normally he can cover only one half of the circle). I was also asking myself, when the HP should be updated when aquiring more AP and came to the idea that it is refreshed live, but will only increase the max. HP. So Martin will be left damaged for a short time until it regenerated the missing HP.
[Q] - Malignant Discharge Grip Ability Type: Target Point + Drag; max. 2 Charges Range: 800 Cost: 35/40/45/50/55 Mana Cooldown: 15/14/13/11/10 seconds recharge time / 1.2 seconds between charges (can not be reduced by cooldown reduction) Cast time: 0.37 seconds
Andrew manipulates electric currents at a target location, using one of his arms to discharge the stored energy and dealing 50/80/110/140/170 (+0.4xAP) magic damage to every enemy unit struck between Andrew and the target location and slowing them by 22% for 0.75 seconds (Andrew ability width: 70; no projectile). (Before launching the discharge, a tiny string of electricity is visible so that the opponent can counteract.)
After a delay of 0.38 seconds, Martin will discharge an additional time, moving himself to the angle of the targeted area and dealing 30/48/66/84/102 (+0.24xAP) magic damage to every enemy unit struck (Martin ability width: 55; no projectile). If Martin hits a target which had been hit by Andrew aswell, the target(s) is stunned for 1.4 seconds. The same target cannot be stunned by this ability more than once every 5 seconds.
The player can drag the mouse, and upon releasing the spell, Andrew targets the starting point and Martin targets the end point of where the mouse has been dragged. If the player chooses to not drag the mouse, both will target the same point. If the player drags the mouse out of the range of the spell, Martin will target the closest point to the targeted point possible.
The main aspect of this ability is of course coordination. This is the perfect opportunity to engage in a trade against someone who uses projectiles. Upon hitting both times, it opens yet another window for Andrews other abilities or even vice versa. As for the garphics, I thought of the Statikk discharge, but a little bigger and with a bluish color.
[W] - Morbid Overclock Device Ability Type: Instant Spell Cost: 60/65/70/75/80 Mana Cooldown: 14 seconds Cast time: None (does not interrupt caster's movements)
Andrew uses Martin to cover himself in a electrostatic charge. Over the next 3 seconds Martin loses his intercepting ability and slowly creates a shield that can take up to 70/105/140/175/210 (+0.4xAP) damage and, upon finishing its creation, grants Andrew a movement speed bonus burst (decays over 3 seconds) and making his next basic attack within 3 seconds deal bonus magic damage. Bonus movement speed equals 10% of the shield's strength and bonus magic damage equals 100% of the shield's strength at the time it was finished. Martin will use [Q] - Malignant Discharge Grip without repositioning itself. When Andrew casts [E] - Vicious Force Cage while Martin is channeling this ability, it will be interrupted and no bonuses are gained (still goes on cooldown, as it failed the attempt).
So how does this shield work? By "slowly creating a shield" I mean that the shield is not instantly applied, but like every 0.5 seconds, a equivalent portion of it is generated, which can then be destroyed by enemy units. The bonuses BOTH depend on the shield's power at the time it was finished. So, if, after the 3 seconds of building up, the shield has only a tiny piece of its ideal power, then the bonuses also suffer from the deficits.
[E] - Vicious Force Cage Ability Type: Target Area (150) Range: 700 Cost: 80 Mana Cooldown: 16 seconds Cast time: None (does not interrupt caster's movements)
Andrew orders Martin to move to a target location (the flight needs min. 0.1 seconds when targeting the position of the caster and max. 1.8 seconds when targeting an area at max. range). Upon arriving at the target area, Martin splits into pieces (loses intercepting ability) and electrocutes all enemy units within the area of effect for 2.5 seconds, instantly dealing 100/130/160/190/220 (+0.6xAP) magic damage to enemies hit and slowing their movement speed by 70% (this slow decays over 1.25 seconds). While traveling or channeling this spell, Martin will not reposition itself when using [Q] - Malignant Discharge Grip but will cast it from the position it is at. When Andrew casts [W] - Morbid Overclock Device while Martin is channeling this ability, this ability is immediately interrupted (still goes on cooldown). However, enemies that are already struck by this ability will not be released from caused effects.
I thought of this like a slowly approaching death, creating a cage with walls of electricity. Reckless enemies will be easily hit by this ability, but watchful players can read the direction Martin heads to. Nevertheless they must be wary that Andrew can still use [Q] - Malignant Discharge Grip to hit from different directions.
[R] - Malicious Electric Area Ability Type: Target Area (600) Range: 500 Cost: 100/125/150 Mana Cooldown: 130/115/100 seconds Cast time: 0.2 seconds
Andrew throws a unique device into the air, which then flies to the center of the targeted area. After a 1.3 seconds delay the device floats the area of effect with electric potential. Andrew's spells are empowered and pierce through any kind of shield (even spellshields), if the target is within the field. Additionally enemies within the area take 50/58/65 (+0.1xAP) magic damage per second and have their movement speed reduced by 20/25/30%. This ability lasts for 5 seconds.
While Martin is in the area of effect, its max. HP is increased by 100% and it regenerates HP 20% faster even in combat (does not accelerate respawn time after being destroyed).
This is the pinnacle of Andrew's power. Not only can he aim more easily due to the slow effect in such a wide area but he can shred through more tanky targets as well. Although it's rather difficult to escape the field, it can not effectively catch primary targets well except in the case they are out of position, which would mean certain death in more than just this case. But on the other hand Andrew excels in this discipline due to his long range crippling abilities.
Although his playstyle somehow resembles Orianna, the fact that Martin is somewhat more open for interaction makes Andrew a more unique choice. Also Andrew does not provide any additional support for the team like Orianna making him more selfish in a way. He is not a sharpshooter like Xerath (although it requires some skill to handle Andrew) but is still a long range poke champ. All in all he combines defensive abilities (Martin) with trap-like offensive abilities, effectively using them to cripple the opponents while creating a situational defensive advantage. His powers are quite considerable in solo lane, but can be more than destructive in teamfights, if the enemies choose to ignore his zone control.
