Joriel, the Ascending Fury

Story coming soon

This idea came to me when considering how Riot would add a brawler to the game without giving it some sort of dash or gap closer. This character can become mobile AND beastly at the same time, but never threatens to jump on you(except with flash). This character can also snowball insanely if he stays alive without even getting gear. He is mana-less, so he is really never without the ability to use his skills. His "focus" never decays over time, so it is a totally legitimate strategy to build it up to maximum before engaging in a big fight. Enemies with be able to see him "glow" more the more focus he has. This will be a tell, perhaps, of whether or not he is wanting to engage, hold his ground or retreat. It wont be hard to tell roughly how 'ascended' Joriel is just by looking at how many times he's died.

Without a doubt, Joriel will have to be balanced by having relatively poor early game stats. However, they can't be too bad or else he'll never get started. My best guesses at what the stats would have to be coming soon.

Abilities

Passive: Warming Up

Joriel stores 1 focus every time he hits with an attack up to a maximum of 20 + (1 per ascension stack)

Q: Chi Barrier

Cooldown: 1 second toggle

Cost: In Description

Joriel creates a spherical barrier around him that absorbs damage(before mitigation) that would be dealt to him. The barrier consumes 1 focus for every 25/32/39/46/53 * (character level + ascension stacks) damage absorbed and for every .5/.75/1/1.25/1.5 seconds it is active. Chi Barrier is toggled on and off with a 1-second cooldown between activations.

W: Empowered Throw

Cooldown: 22 seconds - 1 per ascension stack

Cost: 2 focus

Joriel consumes 2 focus to grab an enemy champion or minion and throw it a distance of 600 in the chosen direction. If the thrown champion or minion collides with a wall while in flight, it is stunned for .85 seconds and takes 60/100/140/180/220 + (1.4 * Bonus Attack Damage) physical damage. If it collides with an enemy champion while in flight both units in the collision are stunned for .6 seconds and each take 200 + (1.4 * Bonus Attack Damage) physical damage.-

E: Force Blast

Cooldown: 8/7.5/7/6.5/6 seconds

Cost: 2 focus

Joriel consumes 2 focus to fire a blast wave from his outstretched palm which moves at 800 speed with a range of 700. This wave deals 40/55/70/85/100 + (1.6 * Attack Damage) + (2/4/6/8/10 per ascension stack) damage to all enemies it collides with.

R: Ascension

Cooldown: Base = 20 seconds(Increased by 5 seconds per ascension stack)

Cost: 20/18/16 focus

Joriel channels for 1.5/1/.5 seconds to gain an ascension stack. Ascension stacks grant bonuses to his abilities and his attacks. They also increase his movement speed by 5 per stack and increase his maximum focus by 1 per stack. When Joriel dies, he loses half his Ascension stacks.

Conclusion: Only testing would reveal how broken or completely useless this champ would turn out to be. Maybe others can do better guessing than I can though, so feel free to comment and critique this champion idea. I'm looking for the criticism mostly, as I plan on making changes if important flaws are pointed out that I have not managed to notice.

I actually really like the idea of this champion. The only thing I have to say is that his scalings are pretty broken. I think his E should be nerfed to a 1.0 bonus AD ratio.

Also, what defines as an attack for gaining focus? Any ability or auto attack?
