[experimental game mode idea] The Circle of Life

I rarely post on here, but this just came to me today, so I figured I'd share it with y'all. I call this mode "The Circle of Life" The game starts off like a standard 5 vs 5 Summoner's Rift game. The big difference comes once the game starts.

As soon as someone dies, he will be dead for the usual downtime...and then respawn as a different champion. He would respawn as the same champion that the teammate below them in champion select picked (The last summoner who picked would get the first summoner's pick). Each time that champion dies, he would cycle through the entire team roster endlessly. This would pose some rather unusual questions. For example, would it be more beneficial to build both AD and AP? Technically, it would also be possible under the mode to all play the same champion if the circumstances were right. Would it be wise to have, for example, two Katarinas? I think the uncertainty added to this mode (as well as the "oh crap" moment you have when you go from Katarina to Taric) would be amusing. The chaos alone would be impressive.

Just an idea!

Maybe they could only respawn from a pool of champs that the player picks from (they pick 3 and 3 are randomly assigned) and when they die more than 7 times, the picks are rescrambled and they could get any of the 7 champs.

Would the champ they respawn as start at level 1 or the level they died at? It wouldn't be fair to have a level 1 vs a level 12 who hasn't died all game

Or have it so you respawn as the champ that killed you? There are some obv flaws with that, but just an idea.

No, all experience and gold is retained upon death...the tricky part is skills. The best way would probably be to allow champions to reassign skills once they respawn with a new champ. However, it could be painfully fun (albeit frustrating) to allow points in Q skills to remain in Q skills, W points remain in W skills, etc.

Interesting. I worry I might actually have a heart attack and die but you know, that is a risk i just have to take, i guess.

New Special Game Mode: Summoners will once again be able to battle on the original Twisted Treeline map. Those who never had the chance to experience the sheet brilliance of the old map are in for a real treat.

This sounds a lot like a specific dota mode. Don't get me wrong,I'm saying that as a good thing: it's an amazing mode and is insane fun with lots of friends. I love having to deal with situations where I can't choose everything like my champ etc etc. Yet this still remains very tactical. Love it!!

This is awesome. Revive summoner and time dead quints would be huge. Could you trigger the champ change by suicide? Like dive a tower by yourself or try to 1v1 baron?

I like the idea of leaving your skills locked in. So if you were maxing Q, you max for all champs. Would make team composition more strategic or force you to spread the points around.

Are you stuck with items? Would be fun if you could sell the item for 90% of it's value so you don't get stuck with AP items on an ad champ late game.

I would play this.

Or a team could pick their 5 champs they play, and then pick another 5, and they respawn as one of those (so there won't be two of the same champ on the team)

sounds awesome

I would want them to just cycle every minute or two, regardless of if they are dead or alive. it would be more chaotic and fun. If they only changed on death then you could have intentional feeding to get the right champ or you would have a snowballing effect as someone moves from a champion they know to several champions theyve never tried. Also if you were intentionally building a certain way and then died once it could just ruin the rest of the game.

It would work better if everyone switched champion periodically, nobody would feel like they lost just from 1 death and nobody would have a reason to die or pick on anyone.

i think once they cycle through the team's champions they cant respawn and they have to wait for the last person to die

I was thinking about an idea similar to this but with minions and neutrals, I think I called it "evolve" its pretty basic, you start off a melee minion and when you kill someone/reach a certain amount of gold or creep kills you turn into a monster, a caster minion etc. dying would result in you devolving into your previous form. the scoreboard wold be 2 teams, but one winner, which would be the first one to reach the final evo.

idk, i know it sucks but its just a thought

evo list: melee min. -> caster min. -> cannon min. -> super min. -> wraith -> big wolf -> big golem -> blue buff -> red buff -> dragon -> TURRET -> baron

Maybe if you could retain all your gold, but have all your items refunded so you could respec easily.

Supahaxxor5/27/2014, 2:05:18 PM1 votes

I think AD would generally be stronger than AP if you retain all your items. Picks would also be too easy if the cycle iterated through your teams picks. I.E. we could all pick adcs
