[Champion Concept] Mayros - The Fallen Crown Prince

"Even the Darkness has his own Will" - Mayros, the fallen crown prince

"Mayros was amongst the civilization and from the folk of Demacia, like he was abandoned by his father, lost and forgotten. Mayros' mother was a servant of Demacia's King - Jarvan Lightshield the Third, but after giving birth she was immediately exiled with her son.

Without the protection of Demacia and the militia within, Mayros and his mother lived through pain and sorrow. Trembling day by day to search for food, his beloved mother gave him everything, even what his mother should had eaten up. After many months, they had found a village near Navori in Ionia. His mother kept the secret of being born in Demacia, only to find help for her son. The Villagers were friendly and saw how hard it was for them, so they took advantage and built for her and her son a house.

After several years, Mayros grew up and was almost fourteen years old when his Mother taught him everything about being a strong and honorful man. Mayros already helped the Villagers with a scythe he had, to harvest the fields.

When Mayros was sixteen years old, a war waged - Noxus invaded Ionia. The battlefield was everywhere in south Ionia, even the village turned to a place of death and despair. While confusion spread over the little town, Mayros was searching for his mother. As he found her, she was grievously injured and about to die. Mayros was told the truth about the exile of both and about his origin.
As if Mayros did not felt enough grief and depression, he was told that his father, a so called "strong and honorful Man" abandoned him and his mother, only because Mayros was born. His mother said to him that Mayros' father is King Jarvan Lightshield the Third - Everything in him went outside and he cried like the day of judgement had arrived.
With the last life inside of his Mother, he swore her and himself to kill King Jarvan the Third.
Mayros travelled with a ship to Demacia, but in the middle of the journey had to stop by Freljord. When he continued his journey with the ship from Freljord, a fierce and brutal storm appeared out of the blue. The ship got carried away and wrecked on the cliffs of a island. When Mayros woke up he found himself in a place of agony and sorrow, somehow fitting for Mayros' mood.

It was the Shadow Isles, a place of which men fear in their dreams - A place known for torture and painful death that awaits every victim who falls to land on the Shadow Isles.
However, Mayros knew that without a boat he couldn't escape, so he had to go further deeper into the dark forest in which the screams of fallen victims was always present. The closer he was to something big, the more he felt a presence of terrific size. When it unveiled its shape and identity, it was something strong and fast as he chased Mayros all the way inside of a cave. Mayros couldn't escape the cave as the creature that chased Mayros stood in front of the cave, but didn't dare to go inside.

Mayros travelled further inside in hope he might find another entrance to the cave, but stumbled upon a giant hall of stalactites and a pedestral with a black orb on it. When he touched the orb, his hand slowly became occupied by a black mass that craved for Mayros' life. In the last moments when the black substance took over his body and finally his face - Mayros did not cry or call for help. His only thoughts were towards his mother and his meaning of life to revenge the death of his mother and the sorrow both had to experience thanks to Mayros' father.

In that very moment, the darkness returned back to the black orb and became attached to Mayros. "As long as you live, I will take your life force as bargain in exchange for the powers of the Shadow Isles" a whisper awakened in Mayros mind. Since then Mayros body became evil as his mind, but his heart clean as his resolve."

###Appearance Mayros is an 21 year old boy who's body is being drained by the darkness for that he receives powers beyond mortals. His body turns to darkness, his mind is being corrupted, but his heart knows where to strike.
A very dark person, almost unpredictable in his moves, Mayros fights with a Scythe. His orb can float within the Scythe to create a gravity strong enough so that the Scythe can rotate and come back any time.

###Champion Explanation

  • Mayros means "Black" in greek and fits his character. Mayros was the second Champion I created more than one year ago, now reworked.
  • Mayros wasn't always like that - before he fell into a pit of hatred and selfjustice, he was actually a very nice, honorable and lovely person. He was also the first love of Ahri, they've found themselves before Noxus invaded Ionia and got seperated because Mayros mother got killed.   • Mayros is the son of King Jarvan the Third, father of Prince Jarvan the Fourth. King Jarvan did send one of his best soldier to eliminate Mayros' mother when she was still pregnant - but as we know, she never got killed. King Jarvan was told that his son-to-be died together with his mother.
  • King Jarvan's official statement is that Mayros is lying and could never bear royal blood or be his son as King Jarvan would never sleep with a mere servant. But don't we all have a black sheep in the family?
  • Mayros feels a huge grudge against his father King Jarvan and wants to kill him - Unfortunately, his son Prince Jarvan is the one who stays between Mayros and his goal. Jarvan IV: "Heck, I always wanted a little brother, but you're literally a midget - You sure we're related?"
  • Though related to the Shadow Isles, Mayros is the first who created a symbiosis with a other entity from the Shadow Isles. In exchange of his soul and life, for his wish, the powers of darkness grant him the power to kill King Jarvan.
  • The Orb of Darkness that Mayros found on the Shadow Isles is unknown and mysterious. Some say it is a manifestation of the painful feelings of those who were tortured and killed. It consumes Mayros life force in order to receive more pain and torture.
  • *Mayros kit is a bit "complicated". If the game starts, he's in the "Scythe" Stance and can only do melee basic attacks. If he uses E, he changes from "Scythe" Stance to "Orb" Stance, which allows him to use ranged basic attacks. Depending on which stance, Mayros' W ability changes. *
  • Mayros is best played on mid or perhaps top lane. Actually, he could be a viable jungler if played well, but counter ganks can be a problem.

###Abilities

Mayros will change from Melee to Range by stance change. His Q and his E will swap his use of Orb (Ranged) or Scythe (Melee). While in Orb-Stance Q will swap from Orb to Scythe-Stance, while E will swap from Scythe to Orb-Stance. His W will change depending on which Stance Mayros is.

Orb Stance - Dark Path: Mayros will after 0.5 seconds casting, overload his right hand with the orb in it, holding the fist to the ground in front of Mayros and he will create a dark null zone wich will stand for 3.5 seconds at the target location. All damage source from enemies, wether Skillshot, AoE or anything else, which goes through or at the position, will be absorbed into "Dark Path". 10%/20%/30%/40%/50% of the damage absorbed will be dealt as magic damage in a 500 range around "Dark Path" to enemies and will curse them each second by 4 seconds by 1%/2%/3%/4%/5% magic damage from the absorbed skills from "Dark Path". If Mayros stays inside "Dark Path", he will be healed by 10%/20%/30%/40%/50% by the damage done. This ability can be recast to deal earlier damage |SK + T / AoE |85 / 100 / 115 / 130 / 145| 18 / 16 / 14 / 12 / 10|

When Mayros becomes the black cloud and starts leaping to the primary target and if he goes through enemy Champions in that process, they will be marked with a great scythe above their heads. Once Mayros collides with the primary target and deals damage, half of the ultimate damage is being dealt to the other enemy Champions who he went through before. (The Great Scythe will stay above their heads to signalize that they are being focused - Once Mayros arrives at the primary target, the great scythes will fall and execute - dealing damage to the marked ones)|D + AoE|1200/1500/1800|100|110 / 90 / 80

###Concept Explanation & Personal Opinion

Mayros can be extremely devastating - but this can be said to all mage nukers. Mayros can throw two scythes at once, use his dark orb to slow and deal further damage and use his Ultimate to wreak havoc upon the fields of justice.

Mayros' passive is somewhat similiar to Xin Zhao's, but Mayros' passive can stack and has much less duration and it shreds magic resistance as well as armor. Why? Because Mayros can deal both physical and magical damage, which makes him viable for either one source or perhaps as hybrid.
His Q is self-explanatory. He throws the scythe and on the end of the path it disappears. It is perfect to create confusion as his Q is the same as his W, but both rotate each different (Q clockwise, W counter-clockwise). If in Orb-Stance, this ability will change Mayros to Scythe-Stance.
Undaunted and Dark Path are devastating abilities which makes Mayros' core abilities. If you're in Scythe-Stance, you can only use Undaunted. You throw your scythe that also returns back - you can teleport whenever you want and on arrival, you'll silence your foes for greater impact. You want to deal the most damage with it - the best would be to throw the scythe to deal damage in the straight path and when it returns (similiar to Ahri's Q or Sivir's Q). Dark Path is a bit tricky, but is also a high-risk high-reward. If you use Dark Path, you want to stay inside to be protected. Against damage, yes. The problem is that you can be still affected by Crowd Control - That means stuns, snares, knock backs, knock ups - everything can get you out of Dark Path and make you invulnerable. On the other hand, you can just stand around and wait until Dark Path wears off. Like I said, high-risk high-reward.
The E ability sends forth the orb of darkness to deal damage in the designated location - he sends multiple waves, up to 7 times. Each 2 times the enemy got hit, he's being slowed - this can appear up to 3 times if max out. This is really good against Champions that have Banshee's Veil or use Mercurial Scimitar to get out of sticky situation. If you're in Scythe-Stance, Cursed Flames will change you to Orb-Stance.
His Ultimate can be extremely cunning, but also easy to predict. In Nocturne's case, you can't see Nocturne chasing you or leaping to you - this means you'll get wrecked in most cases. When Mayros locks on you, you'll get a visual validation and you can take some steps to outsmart. You can flash right before he lands, you can dash or use Zhonya's. You can also trap Mayros to outnumber him, everything's up to you.

My personal opinion:
If I would play Mayros, I would cast Undaunted behind me - while the scythe is rotating and slowly returning to me, I use my Ultimate to leap on a Champion. While leaping and colliding, the scythe comes back - I can deal fatal damage and immediately back off by recasting Undaunted and appear at the location of the scythe - It is like a Zed's Deathmark used from a very high range. It's not easy to combo, but this is one of the scenarios I would love to do.

Overall Mayros is strong against Champions with low to mid mobility. Melee Assassins for example can be outbursted or kicked out of laning phase by punishing for fail moves (Like Zed uses his Shadow W to deal damage to Mayros, but Mayros uses QWE to deal full damage on him and he can't escape because he used previously his shadow and its on cooldown).
Mayros is weak against CC based Champions like Fizz, Syndra, Ryze, ecetera. Once Mayros is being stunned or snared, he has pretty much no way to counter. Pretty much every of his abilities are skillshots and can be avoided - worst case scenario is that he loses both HP and Mana and traded nothing in exchange.

  1. Mayros throws the Black Orb with a high impact in the air - after a few seconds it returns back. (This shows that the Black Orb is a part of Mayros and won't leave him until he fullfilled his wish of revenge)
  2. Mayros throws his Scythe in the air, while it's floating around him, Mayros uses his Orb and dances the S-A-F-E-T-Y dance, while his orb flies around his body like a planet goes around the sun. (Gravity). At the end of his dance, his Scythe will smash down with the sharpen blade next to him in the ground, and Mayros shrieks for a moment.

hi there :)

I realy like this Concept with art and all, He just looks like a Baddass:)

the Lore is well written and I like it his descent Into Darkness and how you explain him and his Relations with other champs.

his kit is also pretty nice although he is ment to be Hybryd but yet his AP side is more Powerfull then his AD,

his passive is almost Identicle with Kayle's passive, both shred MR and stack up only this one beng a bit to much, 10% that stacks up will almost be a Last whisper/ Void staff, and having one of these items will make his burst a bit to Insane.

his Q seems very nice, its not like just pressing a button to change, no it is a command and play :) I like it.

his W undaunted looks a bit to similar to his Q, plus he only have one scyte, how will he se a second one? Dark path just deals a bit to much damage to be honest and needs to be lowered.

his E has a nice concept. but I used my calculater in this one and it shows that with just 500 AP he will deal more then 1300 Magic damage. that is a bot to much dont you think?

his ult looks and will feel very good :) I realy like this ability :)

so yh his Kit has just some high numbers, furtherest I like him alot. its time that LoL will get a scythe weilding champ with will use it as a weapon :)
