Short Stories (Attempt): Xerath - Spark of the Infinite

Note: I started envisioning this listening to this song ---> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=see_TY5ANEc

"I'm sorry..."

All vanished in an instant, nothing was to be seen in the complete darkness. A blink after the man could see the ruin, the death, the destruction that not only Shurima but the entire Runeterra would suffer from his act.

He dared to step into a realm not meant for men.

He saw realities torn apart... a nebulous veil falling, revealing terrors that none had seen in the solemnest hours... eating, hunting, crawling, shattering everything they'd come to meet...

There was only one chance... To grab that immense power and bind it to himself, the outcome would be self destruction... or something outside the grasp of whoever had wielded magic untill that moment.

In what it looked like an eternity, Xerath forced the arcane energy into his body, wrecking havoc on his body and his very soul... he barely endured all the pain... His vision of the world changed, he could see the forces which held together the whole universe, an interstellar theatre play and plains of existance beyond the one of men.

He had just grabbed that small spark of infinity when his sight got obscured...

Chains...

A coffin...

Conclusion: It's really short I know but my aim was to give the bones of what could have happened in the mid of the Ascension ritual and what Xerath could have seen and possibly turned him into a nearly mad man (plus something that could corrupt even Renekton). I'll play Captain Obvious and tell you that the "Terrors" that he saw where the Void Creatures freely roaming the land adding that what brake the curtain between worlds was actually the improved/corrupted Ascension ritual and this is why Bard had to make an intervention.

I really dislike the notion of the Void being this sort of 'Yep, Void is evil and is the cause of all evil and will always will be'. It's a poor story choice as it's boring without some sort of twist (that Riot never has and probably isn't capable of), and it tends toward poor writing. Bard has a lot of options for the most part, but shoveling him into the Anti-Void side is not a good one in my opinion.
