I am creating Champion Concepts since march 2012. I've created about 50 Concepts and people wether complained or supported me for doing it.

I don't do it for fame or that Riot takes them, which doesn't work that way either. I'm doing this because I love to create a new life, a possible Champion that is linked to the world of League of Legends - to Runeterra.

Yet.. I've been in EUW for about 6 months when I first tried my hands on Concepts. What I saw where 10% nice people and 90% toxic people. Most people bashed me for my "fantasy", for my willpower to create provocative content. That's why I decided to go to NA forums and continue to post there.

And what can I say... it was like 60% nice people and 40% douchebags. It was much better, in the old forum.

Now when I post something in the new forum, I have to check and have to experience people downvoting my threads to 0 or even -1/-2. Why?

The downvoting system exists as a contra against inappropriate content. Not to declare your anger, frustration or dislike to the content created with someone's LIFETIME. You obviously spit on someone's entire life for spending his time to create content and you seriously want to have this certain content to be sent to oblivion, only because you can't enjoy it. The reason why the downvoting system exists:

  1. The old forum was like: No matter how inappropriate it was, you could bring your thread up in the first page by "bumping".
  2. Newer posts weren't encouraged to be seen due to the "veterans" who "bumped" their threads in the first page and pushing newer ones to other pages.
  3. Threads/Contents weren't organized, thus no matter if a thread was extremely popular - you could never see it except when its getting bumped.

I was ACCUSED to be a filthy THIEF for "STEALING!!!" a name and appearance for my last character. Only because I used them as referrence (And everyone complains about that I used just one letter and yet still is a name stealing. Yeah, like Andrew/Andrea ... same name.. ffs).

I'm frustrated and pissed off - read this thread and learn that your undoings have a negative effect on others.

  1. If you don't like the Concept/Content - Downvote it to 1, but not to 0 or lower. 0 or lower means that the content is inappropriate.
  2. If you feel that you HAVE to force your opinion, use the POLL (if exists) instead to rage around at the downvoting system.
  3. Don't call every of your thoughts as righteous. If you accuse people as thieves only because they sought for inspiration, then you're doing it completely wrong and in a toxic way.

#I know this thread will be downvoted (ironically) and most or let's say EVERYONE here will write stupid stuff to attack me, dissociate or to be a hipster for following the raging mob. But I'm doing this here to change something.

And due to the continuing toxic/inappropriate behavior of people, I've cancelled the Champion (for the first time ever) and I will probably not do any Champion for a long time. I'm very disappointed of this community.

The general problem with this community is similar to as with the honor system in-game. People tend to feel negative about something rather than positive. This goes especially for something which has more than 200 words in it. (rough guess)

But I share the same grudge as you do. Bringing up older posts can only be done via reposting which is a huge flaw to the new forum.

The other thing is, I like to use the sorting by Newest Thread and not "Hottest". Especially in the Concept forums the number of comments doesn't have any connection with the quality of said post. Ironically, lower quality posts create more comments since there is more to debate on it while good quality posts receive some comments due to appreciation and not because they want to debate on something.

Just a few things. It fairly late/early here.

Edit: Another strange thing is that people tend to look into posts with images, especially well-looking art. And most of the comments say something about the image rather than the champion itself.

You shouldn't get so discouraged. The truth is, people are assholes. not much we can do about it. Just have fun, and keep doing what you love.

One of many, many reasons why I don't post concepts on boards/CB is because of how much harder it is to find an old thread, to show proof that names are really not something steal-able or that somebody else used that name already in the past.

You have my support, though, that's absolutely absurd. :|

I kind of have also some champion concepts, but I'm quite of afraid to post them here because I'm like really bad with them. I had also a Sona rework idea but I felt too afraid that my opinion and ideas get bashed or that they'll stay unnoticed :/ You should not give up!
