[Champion Concept] Mila, The stray light

Bourmegar·7/9/2014, 1:22:34 PM·10 votes·4,332 views

Name: Mila, The stray light.

Explenation: Players from EU west may already have seen her in EU west's Champion and items suggestion Page, I Finally decided to bring her to the Community Beta after Discovering how to get here xd. I am the same guy who made her on the EU west. I had this idea of Character quite a while in my head Before I made her a Champion.

Lore

Not every child has the luxury of staying with a loving and caring family.

Such is the case with Mila. She was found as a defenseless infant by a priest inside of a church in Demacia. Shortly after she was discovered, a husband and wife were found dead at their home, believed to be her parents in an investigation. The priest and his wife attempted to find a loving home for the baby, but found themselves having grown too attached to her and decided to adopt her themselves and gave the Baby the name Mila.

During the following 7 years, she grew up under Demacian rule and a loving family, including her sister who became her best friend. At times, Mila was so happy that she would literally shine as she smiled. Seldom times when she was feeling sad, the ground around her became soggy with water. She baffled those around her, but her parents always knew she was special. The happiness that surrounded Mila's life was about to end as shadowy figures began to stalk Mila and her family, only to be dismissed as figments of her imagination. That changed one night as the young girl witnessed these figures break into her home and slaughter the parents and sister she held dear. Filled with fear and devastation, she began glowing immensely, letting out a cry that caused the ground around her to fissure with waves of luminescent water, driving off her attackers. The scene caught the attention of the Demacian guard, whom executed swift justice on the assassins.

With the terrible tragedy forever engraved in her heart, she would never be the same happy girl she was anymore. Orphaned once again, she faced hard times with the other children of the orphanage she was taken into. They teased her cruelly, even going so far as blaming her for her family's deaths. On a fateful day, a magician visited the housing, taking an interest in Mila with all of the stories revolving around her enigmatic abilities. Soon after, she found herself adopted by the mage she knew as "Meron."

Baffled by Mila's ability, Meron carefully studied her as he took care of her as his own. Weeks passed, and the young girl's sadness slowly turned back to happiness, causing the water that would appear around her to change more into the form of light. Meron deduced that Mila's power corresponded to her emotional state. For the next two years, Meron taught Mila all he could about magic and how to control her abilities. As she grew in skill, she grew in happiness. Among the lessons Meron passed to her, the most important verity he taught her was to never fall to anger, fearing what power may become unleashed in that state. Tragedy grasped at Mila once more as dark silhouettes ravaged her life yet again, attacking her and Meron. In a desperate attempt to save Mila from the overwhelming situation, he cast a spell to open a portal, pleading for her to escape. Mila protested fiercely, but her instructor would not argue, pushing her through the magical gate and closing it behind her. The last image of her mentor and caretaker was to her horror that of him being outnumbered and slain.

In a city very foreign to her, Mila was discovered by Piltover's police force in a inconsolable state and placed into yet another orphanage. Filled with fear of her repeating history with orphanages, families, and shadows, she managed to escape from the orphanage and decided to go on her own.

Eight years of braving the streets on her own made her very resourceful. She found happiness in using her gift to help people, one of which, being a rebellious gang member. Mila used her power to heal and strengthen the former criminal who would become well-known as Vi. Meeting once again on the streets, this time as an officer of the law, Vi tried to persuade Mila in joining the force. The orphan declined, fearing getting too attached to anyone only to lose them again. Mila continued to wander the streets of Piltover, helping those in need.

The cold air of night filled the empty alleys, until the silence was broken by something Mila had dreaded would come. The familiar dark figures that haunted her past had found and attacked her. Managing to escape with her life, she fled to the police station, wounded. Her mysterious attackers followed her inside, only to be crushed by Piltover's Finest.

Mila's story of her predicament touched Caitlyn and Vi, who offered her a job and a home. Overwhelmed with a mixture of desperation and happiness, Mila Cried out tears of joy and accepted, taking on the badge of a Piltover police officer in training. The feeling of having a home again fueled her, slowly making her into more of the happy little girl she once was. With a renewing heart, and the power of light inside of her, she now joins her newfound family in the Institute of War. There, she gives up running and now peruses information on her attackers and herself, not as a scared little girl, but as Piltover's Finest Trainee.

"Helping others is a beautiful gift we can all take part in." - Mila

Role

Support, Mage.

Mila is a support Champion that Relies on her allies to fully make advantage of her W and passive, she is best played in a duo Lane where she can Poke with her Q and E and use her W when fully committing into a fight. although she has very low amount of Cc, her offensive bonuses can help her team really well making her a bit of a threat even when as support.

Base Stats.

Health: 400 (+77)

Health regen: 5(+0.6)

Mana: 240 (+50)

Mana regen: 6 (+0.6)

Range: 525 (ranged)

Attack damage: 45 (+2.5)

Attack speed: 0.625 (+2.35%)

Armour: 13 (+2,5)

Magic res.: 30 (+0)

Mov. speed: 335

Passive: Goodwil

on her first attack while Goodwill is off cooldown, Mila will emit a flash of light. Allies within 500 distance of Mila when that happens become marked with light for 5 seconds, then Goodwill goes on cooldown. When Goodwill goes on Cooldown, her First ability grants sight of a 800 radius area around her target points for 2 seconds. this can only happen once per minute. this ability has an Static cooldown so CDR will not affect the Cooldown of this passive. Cooldown: 20

Q: ball of retribution/Nourishment

Ground-targeted, area of effect.

On pressing Q She will automatically shuffle between her balls (like twisted Fate) and by pressing Q again she will fire of the ball that is chosen. if one of the 2 balls is not available she will throw the available ball right away instead of shuffling between hem. (when on Cooldown you can still toggle between the balls but not fire off)

Ball of retribution: Deals 35/65/95/125/155(+40% AP) magic damage to enemies in the primary range. The ball remains for 5 seconds. After 5 seconds the ball flies to the Nearest enemies location ( it wont home in) within the secondary range and explodes, snaring for 0.5 seconds and dealing 35/55/75/95/115(+40% AP) magic damage to all enemies in the secondary area of effect. If Ball of Retribution hits the same Target twice then the Target will get snared for 0,5/0,75/1/1,25/1,5

when allies marked with light are in the radius of the ball, the ball will deal 10% More Damage.

Ball of nourishment: Restores 35/65/95/125/155 (+40% AP) HP to the lowest-health-percentage ally, and increases the armor and MR of any other allies in the primary range by 20/30/40/50/60 for 2 seconds. The ball remains for 5 seconds. After 5 seconds the ball flies to the lowest-health percentage ally within the secondary range and restores 35/55/75/95/105(+30% AP) of their HP.

Allies marked with light are healed for 20% of the heal values of either ball when in either ball’s areas of effect.

After 2(BoR)/1(BoN) seconds, you can reactivate the respective ball to launch it towards your cursor. Ball only goes on cooldown once the active ball explodes, so you can’t cast a new ball while one is active.

Mana cost: 50/60/70/80/90

Initial cast range: 850

Secondary Range: 850 From the balls location

Projectile speed: 1000

Secondary Projectile speed: 800

Ball of Retribution AoE radius: 150

Ball of Nourishment AoE radius: 200

Cooldown: 14/12,5/11/9,5/7 seconds

Visual: the balls look like an a bit dripping Fabergé egg manatech style (piltover style). there is an indicator on the ground where the balls will land on both activations.

W: consecrate.

Ground-targeted area of effect Mila consecrates an area centered on the target point. When an enemy champion/minion or monster in the area takes damage from an allied champion that's also in the area, that enemy also takes an extra 10/20/30/40/50 (+12,5% AP) magic damage. A single enemy champion can only take bonus damage from Consecrate six times. after taking damage from Consecrate six times, the enemy gets Blinded for 1 second.

If both enemy and ally are on the consecrate and the allied champion is marked with light, the enemy champion hit is also slowed by 30% for 1,5 seconds.

Particle effect: Enemies that are hit six time by the W will shine (just to clearly indicate that they have taken full damage)

Cost: 70/85/100/115/130 mana

Duration: 10 seconds

Range to center of AoE: 700

Radius of AoE: 575

Cooldown: 20/19/18/17/16 seconds

E: Guiding light.

Linear collision skill-shot Mila fires a bolt of light that deals 70/100/130/160/190 (+ 70% AP) magic damage to the first enemy hit. For the next 4 seconds, that enemy glows, gaining a Guiding Aura. Allies within the Guiding Aura gain 15/20/25/30/35% bonus movement speed when moving towards the glowing enemy, that bonus amount of Movement-speed wont be reduced by CC. Allies marked with light additionally gain 25% crowd control duration reduction while within the Guiding Aura.

Visual: the arm that fires off her guiding light will have an transparent and a bit dripping yellow/white piltover searchlight and will shoot of a light beam.

Cost: 70/75/80/85/90 mana

Range: 900

Radius of Guiding Aura: 600

Cooldown: 13/12/11/10/9 seconds

R: Powerbond

Targeted spell - targets herself/allied champions Mila creates a tether between her and an allied champion thats lasts 8 seconds. when the tether is formed the target gets healed for 15/17,5/20% of their maximum health and regenerate 15/20/25% of its maximum health over the duration of the ult. her Target will also emit a wave of light every 2 seconds Dealing 75/100/125 (+20% AP) Magic damage to every enemy. the First wave of light will knock back all enemies within 20 range for 0,75 seconds.

if her Target is marked with light, The last Wave of light will knock back knock back all enemies within 20 range for 0,75 seconds as well

The tether breaks when it times out, the tethered champion moves out of range, Mila dies, or reactivates Powerbond before the timer reaches 1. In this last case, all enemy champions within 200 range around the tethered champion will be knocked back for 0,75 seconds if the Target is marked with light.

so yh Pretty Lengthy Descriptions right? well that is Because I want to be very Clear about her Abilities and Visual appeal of them.

Play-style

Mila can be good at helping others catch their opponents with her Q and E while also being more passive with her Q heal, she can be Best played with allot of pokes because sh does not have a Direct Fast CC making her quite vulnerable for attacks, thereby Poking with her Q is the best thing you can do. if she manages to hit her Q twice then it is the best moment to start Fighting in a bot lane. her Ult can best be used while fighting, to further Disrupt your opponents by ulting on your tank, or helping your allies escape when they get caught. however her Ult will also put A Target sign on her head by making the Bond(tether), and since she is quite Frail she has to be in a good position to do it and be able to keep up with her target.

Suggested builds

as supp: Mercury treads item 3092 or item 3069 item 3174 item 2045 item 3116 item 3151

other items that might work; item 3504 : since she has a heal, this can work well item 3089 : might be usefull if she goes mid item 3158 : if you think cc won't be a issue

Dance

Frozen: let it go 1:00 1:20

So great! I would definitely enjoy playing this champ :3 I'm sorry I can't say anything about skills balance - to me everything looks cool and well-balanced.

VinnamonBuns7/13/2014, 8:03:11 PM2 votes

This sounds like a really nice champ! She seems like a very nice support and the fact that a lot of her abilites require another person highlights that.

Marlevaur7/12/2014, 1:26:03 AM2 votes

I would love to see this champion made. Even though I probably would fail as her, I love the idea, and I can see good players doing very well with her kit.

Negisuna7/20/2014, 7:11:58 AM2 votes

I like this idea XD. A supp that actually NEEDS a partner near them to be effective makes it unique and awesome. Although, i usually do all kinds of stupid stuff (like adc sona for example) so seeing what people may build on her in many different ways makes me excited! Also, the picture wasn't what i had in mind for some reason o.o. Kinda expected her to be a little girl like annie (not age wise but appearance wise). Something similar to a loli in anime maybe? idk maybe it's just the lore and her personality that made me think that. I'm just weird sometimes :D

also i like the frozen dance idea. shoulda put a dance in mine D:

Hoffmisc7/11/2014, 10:27:05 PM2 votes

Would you like your champion to be in the Champion Compendium?

I'm pretty sure the forums thought I was a bot or something because I posted the same comment on a lot of champion concepts at the same time and they got deleted so here's a re-post for ya.

Bourmegar10/1/2014, 6:21:30 PM1 votes

ok Mila is currently on the Rework table so if you guys have things to say about her abilities, pls keep in mind that these abilities might get reworked.

also if you have a good idea for Her then feel free to share it :)

Angeluslight10/7/2014, 10:34:11 PM1 votes

At first glance, that picture almost looks like she's flipping someone off lol

Passive - Not all too much info here about the Mark of Light, so that'll be for when I go along with the abilities.

As for the vision effect, 800 units radius per 60 seconds is quite hefty. It takes a lot of a Support's ward responsibilities off her shoulders. Between a free trinket ward and remembering to check the bushes with her passive once in a while when wards break, she can really make things hard for junglers to gank. In late-game, she can check ahead for the team when preparing for fights or taking monsters/objectives while eliminating the risk of getting caught off guard in enemy territory. With her Q's cast range of 850 combined with the 800 unit radius of this vision, she can check ahead as far as 1650 units, which is well out of range for all but the longest farcasting ultimate abilities.

Q -

if one of the 2 balls is not available she will throw the available ball right away instead of shuffeling between hem.

Small typo there.

 • Ball of Retribution - A combined range of 1700 range for a single ability, especially a normal ability, is quite a lot. This is quite the zoning ability.

As for the Mark of Light's effect, that's a very close range for it to be useful in anything but fiercely locked teamfights. The radius of effect is 150 units, and if Mila's allies must be in range of it for the bonus, the ball would have to be right on top of an enemy and only melee allies would benefit from it. As for the laning phase, this would probably be only useful for a gank to help an allied jungler do more damage. It wouldn't really benefit the ADC she's supporting if she's playing bottom lane, though.

 • Ball of Nourishment - This can grow to be quite the heal. And defensive boosts on top of that pack this ability with utility. This potion definitely screams support, but I think it has a bit too much heal potential. If this ability was at max tier and she has 100 AP, she can heal a single target for 155 (+40) + 39 +105 (+30) = 369 HP. She might put Soraka out of a job.

A question I have is does the second cast to move the ball a second time early cost additional mana?

Other than the number values addressed as concerns, the rest seems to be fine. This ability does strongly resemble that of Orianna's ball, so I wouldn't say this is the most original ability, but it's not a bad one. It's packed with quite an amount of utility, which I would be careful about because champions can't have too much utility per skill or in their kits as a whole.

W - Well, this can definitely create lots of havok in teamfights, especially with lots of AOEs. This adds an additional damage effect similar to that of Wit's End, but more powerful when applicable. This definitely supports frontliner and assassin champions for some heavy damage with a possible blind and/or slow. 700 units is also a somewhat safe casting range for a bit of a wide AOE spell. The cooldown is appropriately long, but I'm still worried that this makes for extremely powerful team combos because this feels like it can be almost as powerful as an ultimate when combined with others. Perhaps remove the blind effect. She already has ranged heals.

E - This ability hosts some very powerful support effects. An aura movement speed buff that does not get reduced by CC? Well, technically, that means Mila's effected allies can still be slowed, but not as effectively if the CC on them effects only bonus movement speed. I'm not sure how that would really work out.

The 25% Tenacity is very touchy, though. With Mila's enemies given a movement speed buff as well as resistance to CC, enemies have a rather narrow chance of escaping.

And at a 9 second cooldown at max rank, which can be reduced to 5.4 seconds with 40% CDR, she can maintain the aura quite often. Junglers would love her.

Angeluslight10/8/2014, 5:14:29 PM1 votes

One of the things you can experiment around with are auras, since not many of those are tied directly with abilities. And those that are are usually passives. Instead of having her Q bounce twice, it can give an aura to the targetted ally for a portion of the bonus the main target receives. Something to mix things up a bit.

You could technically make it a shield cast instead of a heal, but that still resembles a lot of Orianna/Lux with a ball that forms a light shield.

When it comes to the lore, there are a handful of grammar errors, but most of all, there is a rather large amount of capital letters in the middle of sentences where there shouldn't be.

As for the story itself, I find the

"Not every Child Is born in an loving and Caring Family. Mila is one of these Cases"

part inaccurate.

I would assume that her birth parents cared enough about her to protect her if they knew there was a threat to her. That part is implied, but not stated directly as it seems she never really knew her birth parents. As the story goes on, however, she may have lost the people that she came to call her family, but they all clearly loved her. The quoted statement above gives a strong impression of her having a rather abusive upbringing instead of repeated losses of loved ones.

I don't think it's a bad story overall, but I would say it's a bit awkward to read here and there because of the wording. And Meron's name randomly changed to "Magi" in the last few lines before Mila escaped.

I don't mean to be harsh, but rather honest and direct while being as tactful as possible. If you want, I can rewrite the lore for you with the same exact story? It would just be one big wording revision.

Angeluslight10/8/2014, 8:14:31 PM1 votes

I'm not saying that Mila is exactly like Oriana and/or Lux, but that she does have a resemblance in how she works and feels.

Well it's up to you of how you want her abilities to be executed. Just remember to ask yourself what you want from her and try not to get too carried away with utilities. It's important for champion concepts to have holes in them for the sake of balance.

I'll have a rewrite done for you tomorrow at the latest.

Angeluslight10/10/2014, 12:12:39 AM1 votes

Here's the lore rewrite I did for you, as promised. It's the same story you wrote, just reworded with spelling/grammar fixes and just a little of my own style of writing to help with the flow. Use it/ignore it/change it however you like; it's your story, not mine. I hope it helps.

(lame character limit made me have to split it into too parts, so don't forget about the other half below it)

This champion sounds really good and unique.

Rosemarie12/11/2014, 1:58:00 AM1 votes

You have an interesting concept my only thing is. Why does she have water in her lore? Thematically that's not appropriate. If anything she should begin to make darkness in a saddened/angered state...you could then set yourself up for a fun duel kit champion based off light and dark that would also suit her style better.

Obviously though by making her dual light and dark, people will criticize you for copying Hel from Smite. But it would be cool if you did!

(Just my opinion, you don't have to change a thing...except the water thing, that needs to go).

Her Lore is kind of 1 note. Orphan-Tragedy-Orphan-Tragedy-Almost Tragedy-Boom Piltover's Finest, you need to go more in-depth (or whoever wrote your lore) needs to go indepth about the dark figures who hunted her down because at the moment due to their complete anonymity they could be Zed's followers or a tribe of Cannibals. The story plot of a magician teacher is kind of over-used in my opinion so either ask your writer to make this KAPOW!! Or think of a different way she could have become a better mage.

Your Lore has a good skeleton but it needs to be fleshed out, and given some organs and muscle.

So her abilities.

Her passive is a unique mechanic, but a Passive shouldn't give vision of a WHOLE AREA unless you have something that stacks and can be placed (like Zyra W) but not even Zyra's plants give vision i think unless they are in kill you mode. Think of a better way this can work with her kit:

Passive: Goodwill Whenever Mila successfully lands an ability on an enemy champion, they are bathed in light, being revealed for X seconds and will also be marked. The mark will cause the next ally ability to deal bonus magic damage equal to (10% of Mila's Ability Power (+3 x Mila's level)). Enemies cannot be affected by this but once every X amount of seconds.

The Q is a very interesting concept, it's like a modified Orianna Q concept. However the cast range of this puppy is insane! The damage is also quite high for a support role, i get her secondary role is Mage but for real Karma is irritating enough as a mage support. Also instead of the ball just randomly jumping or reactivating cast perhaps to give her a weakness make it so if she picks up the orb the cooldown is refreshed and the mana cost halved for the second cast of it. You can remove the nous 10% damage if you use the Passive I suggested.

On the other half of the Q, Heals are tricky as they are hard to balance with out making your character have to sacrifice large amounts of Mp or HP (soraka) to keep your ally alive. You definitely need to like half the amounts of the heals and the same pickup and reuse idea for this version. Either remove or SUPER REDUCE the armor and magic resist, not even Leona gets that much from her W and she's a tank.

Her W is very strong...too strong. Just make at an aoe where any ally damage inflicted is increased instead of empowering each of their ability or damage instances. And don't make the damage increase too high, it should be manageable and also a small or medium sized aoe.

Her E should simply deal the damage you have written and then mark enemies increasing ally movement speed and perhaps minor slow, CC Reduction is also difficult to play with.

Her R. This is the only ability I would say besides perhaps her ultimate NEEDS to be reworked. I like the link idea, perhaps create shields between the two that rapidly generate to a cap, and the link will persist and if an enemy breaks the link they are snared, and take magic damage. Since this is an ultimate the snare can be longer than your other stated snare in her Q.

And your items builds...I'm not good at item builds! :3

Overall your champ I say would get 7.8/10 Because her kit needs a tiny overhaul to balance her out without making her the best heal machine since medicine. Great idea though!

Ground-targeted, area of effect.

On pressing Q She will automatically shuffle between her balls (like twisted Fate)

... I like her already

The kit seems overall very well suited for the role. Also like the little aesthetics for when nearby allies die/certain allies present. Gives real light to her lore/character. Great work.

Haha i see i see, our concepts are very similar in that they need a partner to fully shine. Big difference is Mila can roll on her own perfectly fine lol. Would suggest cleaning it up a bit though, like put the skills description and what it does and then explain it below, some of the skills are a little bit difficult to understand and i had to reread them a few times XD.

Quick question though: Does her Ball of Nourishment heal herself if she is the lowest health % ally? its like Sona's but hers heals herself AND an ally with the lowest hp. Also do you have any control over the Balls while they are active?

She seem like a lot of fun though, Lore is a great read too. Side note, that was not how i expected her to look though lmfao its not that its bad i was just surprised :).

Lore: Content: I would be careful with the church-thing. Demacia enforces a strict moral and aside some cults there is currently nothing known about a greater religion or anything else that would justify the existence of a church in the first place. I'm confused. First, the shadowy figures appear for no reason, get killed and then appear again years later? Not to mention that they were traveling. Secondly, you changed the name from Meron to Magi. The whole story with Vi doesn't work. Vi is currently around 21. When they first met she would have been around 11 and she would be in the robbing crew. The text seems pretty long tho. It could use some cuts. Usually I ignore appearance descriptions as such as most of them are taste by the owner. However in this case she joined the Police Force and thus should have an adequate outfit. Not to mention that I thought she peed on the floor in the second paragraph.

Stats: The attack damage seems quite low. With 90 AD at level 18 she roams around the champions with auto-attack amplified abilities like Orianna, Thresh and Lulu. Same goes for Armor. With 58 Armor at level 18 she would make a new low. Rest seems fine.

I agree with Krizalid Brando (EUW), there isn't much to say, and since I'm a biggie on lore, you have my glee to want to play this character!
