[Champion Concept] Viruska, the Paragon of Patience
PREFACE: This Champion has been through several reworks, to reach the current state that he is in now. For a long time I've wanted to bring another Celestial Being into the League of Legends, and to further develop the world where Soraka once lived. In his Current State I envision Viruska to play similarly to Diana, who can pursue a lot of different build options and still play decently, but have the ability to combo and make plays like a Lee-Sin. Rewarding knowledge of the Champions abilities without making them overly complicated.
Viruska, The Paragon of Patience.

- Make the Character thematically and playable, fun for the enemies as well as the user.
- Based on Diana, A Melee range-fighter who has assassination potential and deals magic damage.
Lore: The place where Soraka was from holds many mysteries. It is from this world another fighter steps to offer his assistance to fight for the League of Legends, to end a grudge and lay his wrath to rest. Holding a strong connection to Soraka and the stars, instead he surrendered his immortality to save the one his heart had been chasing for hundreds of years.
Not all Celestial Beings were to use their powers to heal; some were given them to protect those in danger. Far beyond the enchanted grove resides an order of guardians, whose purpose is to repel incoming threats from beyond the stars. One such guardian, Viruska, was the Paragon of Patience. The Seven Guardians, representing the Holy Virtues: Chastity, Diligence, Temperance, Patience, Kindness and Humility. Viruska, was the guardian whose power was by far the strongest, he lacked the defensive capabilities of his brethren. Because of this, he was unable to fight alone, in fear of causing too much destruction. His dependence on others, made him seek out Soraka, the woman who always had an open heart for his concerns. For eons he spent time talking to Soraka in her enchanted grove, talking about his endeavours, especially about the Guardian’s clash with the Star Consumer. He felt that she truly understood his pains, and he fell for her.
Over time he came to a terrible conclusion, her heart suffered no bias, everyone and everything was loved and cared for by Soraka. Her open heart would never have a place for him, beyond just an acquaintance whom she had helped. He became distressed knowing that he had surrendered himself, for nothing. He believed that in order to show her his intentions and declare his love, he would first be able to manage himself. He spent years slowly chipping away at his need for support. He refined his technique and in only a few decades, could finally attempt solo missions. He enthusiastically told Soraka about his achievements, finally thinking he could prove his love for her.
However, her affection had still not changed beyond the sickening kindness and indifference to anything. As he left her he warned her that one day her kindness will be abused. The problem is that Celestial Beings are proud creatures, and this gravely insulted Soraka. She spoke of spending eons looking after humans and creatures that sought her out with no repercussions, the stars had always guided her, and she had never ignored their guidance. Viruska left disheartened and hollow. From then he spent a lot of time alone, contemplating everything he once strived for and believed. Until one day, he felt the star’s agony, like one of them were ignoring their warnings. He realised that his fears may have finally been realised and rushed to the enchanted grove, to see Soraka leave with a strange man. He tried to follow but realised, she was no longer part of them. The stars had tried to stop her, and she had ignored them, they would no longer offer her guidance.
What he saw next still haunts him to this day. Viruska watched the man and Soraka fight, and then the act of betrayal: The man had stabbed Soraka. Blind with fury he too surrendered the guidance of the stars to rush to her side. He attempted to heal her and console her, but in his rage, he snapped at her. She was quite aware that she no longer had her immortality, and told him her life would be dedicated to protecting the weak, leaving him once more. He was stunned; he had sacrificed everything for her. His rage seethed from every aspect of his persona, he longed to kill the person responsible for betraying her kindness and for making them mortal. He quickly lost control of the intense power kept deep within his body, and entered a state of rage. He chased the man, Warwick, destroying everything he came into contact with through the overloaded celestial energy. He never made it to Warwick before he was stopped by Soraka. For the first time, she finally had realised what had happened. Through tears, she stayed with him until the rage within him died.
Now, no longer able to return to his order of Guardian, he remains in Valoran, seeking to end strife and bring his own brand of Celestial Justice to the Fields of Justice.
However, the wrath inside him was merely stubbed, not destroyed. He is in a constant battle against his consciousness to repress the hatred and control his immense power. He now fights in the League of Legends, not by choice, but in an effort to finally win Soraka, and to eventually get his revenge on Warwick.
“We all harbour in our minds an endless rage, a desire to destroy, we must control that desire.”
