Talon Cosplay, Assistance Needed!

Well, the title really says it all. A couple of my friends and I are going to cosplay our favorite champions, which are Malzahar, Varus, Ezreal, and Talon. Now, these are all decently complex, but I'm really only asking for advice on Talon, my champion. Where do I even begin? The metal substances aren't the biggest issue; I have access to a 3D printer and 6 years experience 3D modeling. I already have models for Talon's arm blade and cape blades, with a greyish plastic resin to print them in. But I'm no fashion designer, and fabrics aren't exactly my are of expertise. Where would you guys recommend I begin in that area?
