[Champion Concept] Shais the Elemental Warrior

As a fan of every aspect of the League, I looked at the game and wondered "what if i could do it all? Start as a Fighter/Tank top lane, then switch mid game to a mage/assassin combo, all while keeping the enemy team on their toes." That led me to the creation of Shais, who makes my dreams and those of everyone else's come true.

Shais is a very unique champion: He can go from an AP mage to an AD fighter within seconds, and can be effective at ANY role (except maybe ADC, unless you're a god at the game and can make even that work).

The core of his kit revolves around his powerful (and admittedly complex) passive. Let's take a look:

Passive: Elemental Charge *Please note that this passive is still being tweaked for balancing issues.

-Shais gains additional AD based upon his current AP (15% bonus. Ex. Shais has 100 Ap and 70 AD. Shais will gain an additional 15 points to his AD, giving him 85 AD).

-Every twenty seconds, (lv 1-5) fifteen seconds, (lv 5-10) ten seconds, (lv11-15) and five seconds, (lv 16-18), Shais gains one stack of Elemental Charge in his resource bar (max 6). Switching elements consumes one stack, and Shais cannot switch if he does not have any stacks.

-Shais’s abilities and basic attacks are charged with whatever element Shais currently has active. Shais always begins the game with Fire as his default element.

Fire: Attacks and Spell Casts deal bonus magic damage over time and scale with AP.

Dark: Shais gains bonus life steal and spell vamp equal to his current AP. This amount cannot exceed 10%.

Wind: Shais gains bonus 20 movement speed and his Attack Speed is increased by 5%(lv 1)/10%(lv 6)/15%(lv 11)/20%(lv 16) (This bonus will never exceed the limit of 2.5 AS.) This element scales off of AD.

Water: Basic attacks slow enemies by 15% for 0.5 seconds. The duration of the slow can be stacked for a total of 3 stacks (1.5 seconds). Spells slow enemies by 25% for 2 seconds. This element scales off of AD.

Earth: Shais gains a bonus 5%/10%/15% to his Armor and Magic Resist relevant to his Attack Damage (Armor) and Ability Power (Magic Resist). Additionally, Spell Casts and every third basic attack will deal 20% bonus Physical Damage.

Light: Spells and basic attacks stun the target for 1 second, but cannot apply the same effect for 6 seconds. This element scales off of AP.

Confused yet? If you are, bear with me: I'll explain it in a moment. It should also be noted that Shais is purely cooldown reliant.

** Q: Element Shift**

Shais switches elements to the next on the cycle (Fire-Dark-Wind-Water-Earth-Light-etc.) When he does, he will burst from the effect, dealing damage and applying elemental effects depending on the element he switched to. This consumes one stack of Elemental Charge. **Shais cannot switch elements more than once every five seconds, therefore the cooldown will never reduce below 5 seconds. **

Base Attack Damage: 60/90/120/160/190 (+0.4 bonus attack damage)

Base Ability Power: 55/75/95/105/130 (+0.3 bonus ability power)

Cooldown: 9/8/7/6/5 seconds

Alright, so this is the core that makes Shais so unique. As stated in the passive, some elements scale off of AD, while some scale AP. Shais begins the game with Fire as his active element (according to the Lore, this was the power he was born with), which means he will start as an AP Champion. Using his Q, however, allows him to go from AP to AD in just forty seconds, before the game can even start. What's more is that Shais can switch IN COMBAT, as his Q will cause damage in a small radius around him and apply on hit effects, stunning, slowing, or just damaging anything near him, depending on the element he switches to. However, it should be noted that the elements are in a fixed order, so Summoneres will need to plan carefully before switching.

W: Element Barrier

Shais shields either himself or a nearby allied champion. This shield absorbs damage and, after 4 seconds, will detonate and deal on hit effects depending on the element Shais currently had when casting it.

**Fire:** Deals bonus magic damage over time to enemies near the shield and after detonation (explosion scales off AP).

**Dark:** Grants the recipient invisibility for 1 second. Fears targets near the shield for 0.5 seconds after detonation and deals damage. (AP)

**Wind:** Grants the recipient 20 bonus movement speed that increases to 50 during the shields duration. Deals damage and knocks back enemies after detonation (Slight knockback. Deals AD)

Water: Recipient gains a small portion of their Health (5%/7%/10%/13%/15%) back. Slows and deals damage to enemies near the shield after detonation (20% slow; lasts 1 second. Deals AD)

Earth: Damages enemies who attack the shield and deals damage after detonation (Deals back 5% of attacker’s AD and affects both melee and ranged champions. Deals AD)

Light: Blind enemies who get near the shield and stun and damage enemies for 1.5 seconds. (30% chance to miss next casted spell or basic attack. Deals AP)

Base Shield: 50/70/110/150/180 (+10% maximum health)

Cooldown: 20/17/14/11/9 seconds

It should be noted here that the CC effects of the shield do not stack with each other, nor do they increase with level. Also important is that Shais can switch elements while still keeping the shield on his previous element, allowing for ganking or escapes if needed.

E: Elemental Slash

Shais horizontally slashes his sword in the direction indicated, which throws out a rift that widens and gains damage as it travels. Depending on his element, it will deal either Physical Damage (Wind, Water, Earth) or Magic Damage (Fire, Dark, Light). This spell also applies Elemental Charge effects.

Base Attack Damage: 55/110/150/190/250 (+0.7 bonus attack damage)

Base Ability Power: 55/105/140/170/210 (+0.6 bonus ability power)

Cooldown: 10/9/8/7/6 seconds

And here we have Shais's main damaging ability (you didn't think he had one, did you?). This slash has a radius similar to Talon's Talon Rake, only it doesn't return back to him. Also important to note is that Shais can stun or slow enemies with this ability if he has the right element active, so timing is key here.

R: Elemental Bind

Shais fires a ray of light in the direction indicated. If it impacts an enemy champion, Shais will latch on to them a deal a flurry of blows, suppressing his target for 1.5 seconds. Shais is un-targetable for the duration of the spell, and depending on his current element will deal either Physical or Magic Damage. The final blow will cause a large surge of energy to be released from the bind that will apply elemental on hit effects to enemies near the impact point. If Shais misses his ultimate, the surge from the power backfires on him, reducing his armor and magic resist by 20/30/40 and slowing him by 20% for 3 seconds.

Base Attack Damage: 150/250/350 (+0.7 bonus attack damage)

Base Ability Power: 130/230/330 (+0.7 bonus ability power)

Cooldown: 180/130/90 seconds

Shais's ultimate is his most damaging ability, to both his enemies and himself. It doesn't need to be stated that this ability needs to be aimed with great precision. Think of a Warwick Warwick ultimate, but a skill shot instead. Plus the resulting burst gives Shais time to get away. On the downside, if Shais misses he is left extremely vulnerable to damage of all kinds, so ensure you have a means of escape before committing with your ultimate.

Overview

As you can see, Shais has many aspects to him that make him a very unique champion in most situations. Imagine this: You're playing against a Katarina mid lane, doing well and managing to keep her at bay with your E. Suddenly, she rushes an Abyssal Scepter item 3001 and you find that your spells aren't as effective as they were before, but not to worry! You switch elements a few times and Ta-da! You're dealing AD rather that AP and now Kat, as well as every other champion, has to re-adjust their build to match you accordingly, while you just smile to yourself as you see her return to lane with a lame old Cloth Armor because you know by now she's desperate.

Lore

Speaking of Katarina, Shais's lore revolves around the height of the Noxian conquest. He lived on an island far off the coast from any other civilization with a community that welcomed him, despite the fact that he was an orphan. For many years, Shais was happy, until that fateful day when a lone Noxian battleship docked on his island and changed his life forever. The people were enslaved, and a desperate Shais found himself praying to the patron god of his people, Raphael the god of the sun. The night they docked, Shais received a vision from the deity, who claimed him as his son and told him that he had been born with a very unique gift: The power to control the elements. To make his point clear, he breathed smoke into his lungs and Shais's next breath engulfed his body in flames.

Raphael gave Shais two more gifts, a large two-handed sword and a suit of enchanted armor, both of which channeled his powers through them. He used them to escape and was met blade to blade on the deck by a lone Noxian assassin. Shais and the assassin fought for hours until the man laughed at the sight of him: A young boy coated head to toe in the blood of his enemies. Instead of continuing, he vanished and said they would meet again when Shais was at his full potential. At last, Shais was free.

He followed the visions of his father and trained with many different people for years until he had mastered his powers. He learned the art of water from a mermaid who had left her ocean paradise to save her people. He trained with a woman of the dawn to learn the way of light, and she took him under her shield and taught him everything she knew. To learn wind, he met a lone samurai who trained him in swordplay as well, and after he was finished, Shais saw the man smile for what looked like the first time in years. For earth, he traveled to the mountains and saw a creature made of pure stone bending the boulders around him like they were made of clay. Finally, to learn darkness, he met an archer who had sold his soul to the Void to save his people. He taught Shais that darkness, though powerful, can be consuming.

After many years, Shais received one last vision from his father. He saw the lands of Runeterra and the League of Legends, and he knew that a Champion would be needed to bring everlasting peace to the lands. This was to be his final and greatest test of his strength.

And there he is, in all his glory. If you have any questions/concerns/comments, leave them below and I will try and address them as best I can.

Wow i will say after reading this i already have a high hope for seeing this in game. As a summoner who loves mid and jungle champions i can honestly say that if you were this champion then you could just as easily carry your team with skill. This is a champ to look forward to. I hope this is a reality. Your fellow summoner Homebound

Pretty cool concept IMO. There have been a lot of 'elementalist' concepts, but I think this one takes the cake. It's not simply 4 'fire/wind/water/earth' abilities cobbled together in a weird kit. Good effort! Keep up the creativity. :D

Also on the subject of 'elementalists', check out my champ Wiggins.
