Gold Sharing Idea - Opinions?
Okay so I'm sure Gold Sharing has been suggested many times before and has probably been considered too over powered to just be able to share gold with your team mates and the snowball effect it might have could potentially be massive.
But...
What if the ability to share gold would be to buy an item that allows you to do so?
My thoughts are these:
The item bought from the store would be called "Gold Pot" or you may be able to come up with something better. It would be an item that initially is useless. Bare with me. It would work in a manner similar to
in the sense that you have to build the item with 'stacks'. The way you would build it would be to buy the initial item Gold Pot and then earn 1000 gold that you would have to go back to the store with and upgrade Gold Pot into "Gold Bank".
There is a rule where you must have Gold Pot in your inventory whilst your earn the 1000 to unlock Gold Bank. This means it would hinder people trying to use it as a situational item late game if someone is falling behind.
Whilst 'filling up' Gold Pot the item does not grant any bonus gold to yourself but it would not limit you to one gold income item so you can speed up the process by getting something like
or
.
To 'unlock' access to share the gold in the 'Bank', it would have to hold a balance of at least 300 gold, why? To share the gold costs 50 coins from the total balance of Gold Bank and the minimum you can share would be 250 and then upwards in integers of 250.
- 550 would be sharing 500
- 800 would be sharing 750
- 1050 would be 1000
- and so on...
Once the player who holds Gold Pot has built it into Gold Bank their own gold earned is then theirs to use. They may also spend the 1000 earned to upgrade it if they wish but they would need to earn the difference again to upgrade the item.
For example I buy Gold Pot as a Jungler but I feel my progress is going slowly. Let say I've earned 800 gold. I port back and buy
so I now only have 350 gold. I would then have to go out again and earn 650 gold again before I can buy Gold Bank. Simple mathematics I know but again there's a catch. Only the player holding the item can earn the gold to 'fill up the pot'. So if I'm ADC Bot and top lane gets a tower early on then I won't have earned that gold. Although the team receives it Gold Pot won't consider this as endowment.
You would be able to receive gold from any player on your team and send gold to any player on your team of your choosing.
There is of course a cooldown, it wouldn't be a League worthy item if there wasn't a cooldown! When Gold Bank receives gold from a player there is a 30 second cool down where no further 'transfers' can take place. When you share gold to another player or transfer the gold to your own balance it has a cooldown of 45 seconds.
I think that this is also a self nerfing item. As the game goes on you sometimes feel squeezed for those item spots as you try to get as much AD, AP, MR, Health, Armor etc. as possible and well it can be a tough decision to give up useful items for situational items depending on where the game is at. It also drastically slows down the the build of the player who has Gold Bank as their first 1000 Coins go into unlocking the full build, (if they buy it first). Then comes the question: Which position would it best suit? In my opinion it would make sense to build this item first so that the late game potential is bigger. With that in mind here's how I think it may suit or degrade a positions performance.
Top: lane needs to get building as fast as he/she can whilst avoiding ganks from the Jungler. So probably needs his core items first. If you have a confident top lane vs a jungler who might gank later or can avoid the jungler with regular wards and smart play then there's the potential to earn.
Mid: lane seems to me like a battle of the pokes, dives and surprise attacks. Again like top lane sacrificing AD or AP early game could result in a train wreck. The minion waves are quicker to mid lane by a small amount so if you can zone your lane quite well then this could be a good move.
(Might have to ban this item from
)
Jungle: The jungle undoubtedly gets a lot of minion kills and most of which can be unchallenged with good map awareness so the jungler seems like the best player to hold Gold Bank. However this item does not grant any other bonuses so the jungle phase would be slowed down considerably and again would be sacrificing that first 1000 gold which is a big sacrifice in my opinion. The other teams jungler could also counter jungle quite easily if they know your build. (STAY HIDDEN!)
ADC Bot: This is also the second champion that gets a lot of minion kills and with it some champions too if played right. Support leaves the minions for the ADC and in most cases facilitates this to build items faster so therefore this seems like the most sensible option. It can also be a detriment as I've detailed before. If you struggle to zone early then the tides will quickly turn as the other teams ADC gets stronger, quicker.
Support Bot: I think it's just a big no for the support to get this item but who knows the meta's just keep on coming.
I know this seems like quite a complicated item but it would help out with your mathematics if nothing else ^^ Let me know what you guys think! I'd be interested to hear what changes you would make and who knows maybe Riot will invest in the idea or a polymorphed version of it :)
