[Champion Concept] Pietra, The Arcane Artist (V2?)

The other thread was deleted or something. I can't access it, weird right? Good thing I saved a copy of the entire concept. Also updated the main picture.

7/13 - Tweaked abilites to fit more of a support/mage role.

7/14 - Tweaked numbers with Painted Nashor. Now deals Magic Damage instead of True Damage. Lowered health.

I thought of this champion during a lengthy car ride. I'm not that good at number crunching with the abilities, so I apologize if they seem too weak/powerful; and if they do, please tell me what I can do to balance things out. I'm also not that great of a writer, so I also apologize if the lore is complete shite. Without further adieu, I introduce to you Pietra, The Arcane Artist!

#Lore

There was once an orphan girl that roamed Piltover, using her wit to survive the everyday life. This life changed, however, when she happened upon a large paintbrush that was discarded by a traveling merchant. Wielding her new paintbrush, she saw the world anew; no longer a world that had left her behind, but a blank canvas, ready to be painted on. The paintbrush was a cursed one. While it never ran out of paint, it also ran off of the wielder's life force, slowly but surely draining the host dry from the runic markings that grew on the arms and legs of the young Pietra. She had no idea of this though, and thus began her legacy.

Using the cursed paintbrush, she was able to create rich landscapes within the walls of Piltover. She painted colorful hills, lush jungles, and vast oceans. She was able to paint so realistically, that once the Piltover Police was called on her due to her "flooding an entire street", only to find out that Pietra just painted an ocean. She was able to paint on the air itself, adding to the illusion of her works being real. She entertained children that visited parks with paintings of giant butterflies or tiny dragons. But she soon grew bored. She had only seen what dragons looked like in books, but not in real life. She had limited knowledge of what the outside world was like. Having painted all she knew in Piltover, she set off to find greater masterpieces.

When she stumbled upon the Ionia-Noxus war, however, her life changed (again). She saw passion, anger, emotion and everything in between during a battle. She no longer wanted to paint the static view of a landscape, she would paint action, battles, and even war. Not even scholars could match the level of detail Pietra had when she painted each battle. Her paintings were kept as documents to be used to record the war. When the war was over, Pietra once again grew bored. She had nothing else to paint. Until she found the Fields of Justice.

"I have an entire world as my canvas. I've got a lot to paint." - Pietra

##Passive: Artist's First Stroke http://puu.sh/a9ULp/8054b3253b.png

If Pietra has been out of combat for 10/9/8/6 (Lv 1/6/11/16) seconds, her next basic attack or Splatter Shot deals (+40% AP) bonus damage.

##Q: Butterfly Shot (Skillshot) http://puu.sh/a9V0I/b26b8266a6.png

**Cooldown **: 11/10/9/8/7 seconds Range: 900 Cost: 60/70/80/90/100 mana

Pietra swings her paintbrush, sending forth a ball of paint that damages for 70/80/100/110/130 (+40% AP) and splits off into 2 shots upon contact with a unit. This same effect can be applied to shots that have split off. Each consecutive shot that has been split deals 15% less damage. http://puu.sh/a8eXR/ae2d7afad3.png

##W: Inspiration (Aura) http://puu.sh/a9Vdd/8d41439131.png

Cooldown: 15/14/13/12/11 seconds Range: 600 Cost: 50 mana

Cooldown: 14 seconds Range: 600 Cost: 110/120/125/130/135 mana

Pietra targets a unit and makes them the focal point of her painting. The unit is silenced and has their magic resist lowered by 13/14/15/16/17 for 3 seconds.

#OR

##W: Optical Illusion (Wall) (no icon yet)

Cooldown: 7 seconds Range: 600 Cost: 95 mana

Pietra paints a cliff on the ground, stunning enemies that move past the edge for 3 seconds.

Playstyle

I was aiming for a kind of poking-oriented hit-and-run style champ. I would imagine she is very slippery and can help a lot in a gank if she can land her Q. I also imagine she would do well in team fights, with her W and all. Her E can also help her team escape if they can't fight a teamfight (that is, if it's not on cooldown and she's with her team). Dueling-wise, you would have to be able to out-burst the enemy, rather than out-sustain. Due to her cooldown times and her passive, she won't be able to get more than 1 or 2 good shots off. She could assist her junglers in ganking and escaping, at the cost of her getting into range and potentially putting her own life at risk. Using Focal Point on a gank target could situationally help the jungler if they scale from AP.

Pros:

  • Good poke
  • Slippery if used correctly
  • Good zoning with R

Cons:

  • No jukes/escapes
  • Squishy
  • Bad mana regen, poor sustain w/o items

I took like, 3 hours typing this up so I would appreciate what you think of it! Thanks for reading through this mess!

well I like the idea of this champ :)

LoL is pretty Colourfull so adding an Artist to the Roster is a nice idea :) the Art is well... nice :) although I will encourage you to add a bit more well PILTOVER/orphan because she looks like she is not realy an orphan, but that is jus me being a nitpicking person xd

the abilities she has are on the other hand pretty underwelming,

as mage she lacks Potential burst since she can only Damage with her enhanced Q's and auto attacks, while as supp she lacks supportive assets which are: CC the enemy and giving allies Supportive bonusses like buffs shields etc)

although her passive and Q are quite good and Balanced in my eyes, her W and E are a bit off,

her W, relies a bit to much on her Q and is furtherless a bit weak, and her E might be nice on an Melee Champ but she is ranged and a melee range ability on a ranged mage is very off. Combing W and E in a combo will lead to kiting which is kinda fun, Mages should be more about bringing Damage and CC offensively.

then her ult is a bit to strong, the Nashor is way to tanky, 4400 health is the same amount as a tank might have. although the Costs are very high, just buying an item 3003 and item 3027 will greatly counter that problem.

o I have some ideas that might help this (I hope) :)

  • make her W not rely on her Q, and instead give it its own damage source and make the movement speed go to all your allies.
  • make her E ranged and make it so that it will be a pool of paint that causes allies and enemies who walk on it leave a trail behind for a shor amount of seconds, the enemies on the trail will be slowed.
  • lower the amount of health of her ult and make it so that it will Cost a Certain % amount of mana so that ppl are not forced to get mana items and prevent it from staying to long.

I hope these Ideas will helpyou make your Champ even better in Abilities, because I like her Character already:) Riot should fund this idea :)

I also made a Champion, would you like to check it out and give me some feedback about it? http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/fancreations/REVHERFj-champion-concept-mila-the-stray-light

Cheers :)

You should visit http://www.reddit.com/r/LoLChampConcepts

There is a contest for the month of July which involves the creation of a champion related with Art.

I love this champion, although it is just like the champion on Dawngate (WHO I LOVEEEEEE BTW)

It would be a 'colorful' addition to the roster and definitley change things up, I don't care if it's copying but this is an awesome concept and I agree 100%. http://i.imgur.com/nQEknoL.png

I also like the idea of this champ. Kudos!

One thing I will say is that maybe the cdr from her w is a bit too powerful, especially since it can be applied to allies as well. I would knock it down a few percentage points. Also, the ult seems kind of op lol.

Other than that, I love the idea! Rito plz! :D

first off the ratios on some of the spells are WAY to high... her passive combined with a lich bane end game would deal upwards of 1500 dmg on an auto attack.. also you cant have a spell with that much cdr... it would have to change to something else. a main stat in a lot of items is cdr so those would be pointless to get and almost capping out the cdr with one ability? certainly an ability wouldnt let you achieve more then the maximum cdr of 40% and also the 40% bonus dmg to allies with that would be way to insane.. your talking just giving an adc a bonus 2-300 dmg? unless it would scale which each individual champions AP? which would make it almost useless. and finally with the painted nash.. the ratio is too high again for true dmg... you should either lower the ratio tremendously or make it non true dmg and maybe add a splash kinda like the effect on the real nash? even with this not being true dmg i still think the ratio needs to be lowered.. cool idea just way too OP with the high ratios and effects. Also the circle.. thats like a kog W on steroids HGH deer antler and then some.. it would make it absolutely impossible for a team to catch or chase with a 50$ total differential in the move speed. I know I sound like im absolutely bashing this champion but I am not I like the concept just definitely needs to be reworked and rescaled.

I would think that an artist with a magic paintbrush would create art, and a champion artist would create art to help her. I imagine a fake hole that stuns/slows people as they believe they are about to fall in at any moment. Maybe now that she can paint movement, a painting of a wolf to run up and attack her adversary's. Something along those lines.

Her ult certainly captures that aspect, but I feel that her E could simply become something that she paints that slows or stuns temporarily in a small area, similar to Singed Adhesive in a way, but perhaps with damage. Maybe make her paint a swamp or acid pit? that way it could still use that cool trail effect, but on the enemy champions instead, therefore decreasing the burden of knowledge on your allies while ramping up counter play a little. Don't cut us off from them with your trail!

Also, I dislike her W. As a long time Heimer main, if you want to give a champion free CDR in their kit, don't. Just make the CD on the other abilities what you want, and remove the CDR. This is because it is false power that consumes power budget on a kit and actually inhibits their build paths. 30% cdr is pretty hard to build around, believe it or not, and if you simply ignore the cap and build to 40% you are wasting gold. That, and the damage would be broken on certain champs like Singed or Teemo that have DoTs. I would replace this altogether. Maybe make it a drawing of some small animal or something, something that can move around and fight with weak attacks where as the Baron is the heavy hitter that dominates his zone? perhaps she tosses some paint into the air, hitting an area and creating something at a distance? I don't know, but that particular spell just seems out of place on the kit, and is best off replaced.

Overall the concept is nice, but I just don't see piltover from her story line. IMO, she might be better suited towards the pirate city or perhaps Ionia or even Noxus. Reason being, Piltover is all about the technology, and the brush is pure magic. Unless you want the brush to be some invention of hers that she made to pass the time, I suggest moving her altogether. Maybe tie her in with Sona somehow? Up to you, but Piltover seems like a bad fit.

All in All though, Great idea! I like the idea of more champions like Sona who use some form of art amplified with a magical tool to allow them to compete with champions. I feel she would fit in wonderfully.

I like the abilities this champion has and good job on the Quotes but I'm really here to say I love the drawing of Pietra! I would like to suggest (If you like drawing of course) to try your hand at drawing some champions, comics, or pretty much anything League related and post it on the forums! I would love to see some more work from you in the future if you're up to it! :3 I saw your original post by the way and I was actually looking for it again because I was going to comment on it. Weird it was deleted but oh well, I think you put more into it this time and made it a lot better!
