Champion inspired by this wonderful artwork, feel free to check out more of his stuff : )

xposted from reddit, I had fun making him and was hoping for some feed back

If you like Belain, I'll keep updating. Hoping to get a red reply :D, but the interaction is fun. Im very open to ideas on him, so feel free to suggest something.

Summary

Belain is a Support character who focuses on debuffing and controlling movement. I wanted to try to make a support that doesn't have to focus on straight up hard cc locking as his form of support.

Lore

As a young orphan growing up in Zaun, Belain worked hard to scrap for food, in an unforgiving and dangerous city. That is, until he met the Circle of Pestilia, a small cult thriving on suffering now to save yourself for the afterlife, which at the time offered him a permanent resident and consistent meals. He accepted in exchange for obedience and servitude, and for a few years he took everything they preached for granted, still convinced that the people he worked for were crazy radicals, but time wore him down and he began to listen more to the preachings.

When he had grown he was a devout priest, going into the city to convert people to salvation. He worked hard and diligent for many years at this, impressing his peers. When Belain aged into maturity, he rose to the position of High Priest of Pestilia, and was invoked by his predecessor into a sick magic by bringing himself to near-death using a curved dagger. No ordinary dagger at that, for it was inscribed by dark runes of a long since past age, infusing Belain with knowledge of debilitating, poisonous spells.

One day he ran into Singed who became intrigued by his power, sensing something dark in the old man. He convinced Belain that he would be able to reach an unprecedented audience by competing in the League to convert to Pestilia, which Belain took up after much thought.

Base

Health: 455(+85) Health Regen: 8(+.6) Mana: 250(+65) Mana Regen: 7(+.85) Range: 150 (melee) Attack Damage: 56(+2.75) Attack Speed: .625(+2.7%) Armor: 18 (+2) MR: 25(+2) MS: 350

Abilities

Greedy Blood(Passive):

Belains cursed dagger tainted the area around him, giving himself and his ally's the buff Greedy Blood(aura range 550). Every time an ally is hit by an enemy champion basic attack or spell, they gain 1/2.5/4/5.5% missing health back over 2 seconds, cool down 5 seconds.

Enemy units hit by Belains spells and auto attacks are cursed with Greedy Blood, which adds second effects to his spells, which is consumed on his next spell. Empowered versions do not leave behind the Greedy Blood buff. Dissipates after 3 seconds.

Pestilent Ritual(Q)CD 14/12/10/8/6, Mana 60/70/80/90/100:

Belain marks an area on the ground with an inscribed symbol for 3 seconds(radius 350, range 700) dealing 20/30/40/50/60(+0.5AP) magic damage a second and slowing for 30%(+0.6AP). He also curses enemy units with Greedy Blood.

Hitting enemy units already tainted by Greedy Blood stuns them for .5 seconds.

Diseased Throw(W)CD 11/10/9/8/7, Mana 65/70/85/90/95, No cast time:

Belain throws his dagger forward (Range 750) dealing 50/95/140/185/230(+0.6 AP). He also curses enemy units with Greedy Blood.

Hitting an enemy unit already tainted by Greedy Blood causes a burst of magic dealing the same amount of damage to enemies around (450 radius) and knocking up for .5 seconds.

Swarm Of Flies (E)CD 15/14/13/12/11/10, Mana 70/80/90/100/110:

Lifting his curved dagger in the air, Belain summons a swarm of flies (Range 800)that envelope the target champion for 3(+.005) seconds, reducing vision by 300/325/350/375/400(Trying to get it similar to Graves smoke cloud), slowing for 20/25/30/35/40%. Enemy champions (other than the one affected) can attack the swarm to kill it (2/3/4/5/6 HP, -1 HP per hit). He also curses enemy units with Greedy Blood.

Hitting an enemy unit affected by Greedy Blood double the slow, and an additional 50 reduced vision.

Belain's Sacrifice(R)CD 130/110/90, No Cost:

Belain takes his dagger and stabs himself (dealing 5/7.5/10% Maximum Health). With his open wound he gives an ally of his choice a shield double the damage he dealt to himself for 5 seconds, and a third of his resists. His wound stays open for another 12 seconds. If Belain dies within this time period, he gives the buff to the rest of his allies(aura 800).

Thoughts

I tried to balance him well enough with counterplay built in, and have to say he was a blast to make. I would definitely have fun as this champion as a support main. I especially enjoy his ultimate, it's incredibly powerful if the entire thing goes off with the potential of buffing your entire team with an incredibly strong shield and resist. Tell me what you think of him, if you'd play him or if you think he is a bit too crazy. Was going for uniqueness and fun gameplay both for him and his opponents ('fun' amirite dwarffortress?).

EDIT: General consensus is that the pull is a bit weird, Changed it to a knock up. Also took away the poison and put the explosion on the empowered version.

Renamed his Q from Tainted Ground to Pestilent Ritual (in case I change the passive so it doesn't confuse) Lowered the CD on Tainted Ground slightly.

Also might change his passive, would like some more feedback on that. I might change it to this

"Tainted Magic: Same empowered effect, Belains skills leave behind tainted ground where if he runs on it he gains bonus MS (something like 25/45/65/85 -- might be too fast but he has no other MS increase)" - Belain 1.1

I feel that his diseased throw(W) should be a knockback/knockup instead of a pull, since it makes no sense to be pulled when struck by a thrown dagger, I also feel his Tainted ground(Q) could benefit from slightly better scaling CD somore like, 12/11/9/8/6. I feel that this will be his primary use as a support during laning, as it is a good zoning tool, so having it be on a shorter cool down means he can have more of an impact in the laning phases of the game.

As a support player, i LOVE seeing support champion concepts. This one is fun! A couple of thoughts:

1.) Riot has stated in general that they really don't like aura passives like this because they don't bring enough "gameplay" to a lane (Soraka's, for example). Essentially the issue is that it can make the lane somewhat passive if you're getting poked a lot and doesn't give the enemy much in the way of counterplay. That said, I really like the on-hit effects that apply on the enemy to empower your abilities - this is awesome and gives great zoning potential. Consider just keeping that aspect and cutting the ally aura effect - it would still be a very strong passive.

2.) If you hit an enemy debuffed with Greedy Blood with an empowered ability, do you re-apply the mark?

3.) The Ult effect is super cool, but the on-death effect is a bit weird to me. It seems like this is basically requiring a zombie build where you dive in and bait the enemy to kill you (a la Karthus). This in mind, i wonder if it would synergize with his kit better if his E was self-cast instead of ally-cast. Basically, he surrounds himself in a horde of flies, dives into the enemy, slows them, dies, and applies the shield to his allies.

4.) Consider making Diseased Throw a straigh skill-shot at base level, and then adding the AOE damage to the empowered ability. The pull feels weird, and an AoE zoning spell seems perfect for the empowered attack (maybe with an added knockup or something)

Great job! I love the idea behind this champion - he feels really unique and fun. Would love to play with him

It seems a little over powered take for example Greedy Blood's passive that allows your ADC to regen up to 5.5% of missing health every time he/she is hit topped with their lifesteal kit anyways would mean they are getting back somewhere in the range of 200 health every second. Coupled with the tainted ground effect that will stun the enemy champion every time they hit.. it is a mini stun but it effectively turns the enemy around the only thing is that it does seem to have a balance CD and radius that will allow the other champion to move considering the slow is only a little over 30%

I like the concept but I would like a chance to be able to play him and consider more balancing options.

Overall: Good Work

I think this champ, with a few tweaks of course, has great potential in the League of Legends community. Also I like how you already have the art for the character.
