The Empress Of Heartstrings (Inspired By, Written For And Dedicated To Sona) by Sid

First of all, this is for you Katey Khaos! :)

So when I started off with this song, I wanted it to really relate to Sona as a person, rather than a champion. So the theme had to be warm and on a lower key. Like, sitting next to a fireplace on a snowy day. Also, the song had to make the listener feel something. But as the song progressed, for some reason it got heavier near the end, because it pretty much sounded right. :D Of course I can do much better if I had better and more instruments than i currently do! :P

This is really nice to listen to, but I'm not quite sure what else to say about it. I liked how the song had a sort of building up and then a climax and then a sort of fading out. Also, I didn't really get a "sitting next to fireplace on a snowy day" feel from the song, I got a more intense vibe from it than anything else, and the beginning was a little abrupt. Still really good, though. Keep it up! :D

Yea even though the fireplace thing is what I was going for, as I kept writing it the intensity kept increasing for some reason and it felt right so I kept it! :P I guess it's mostly because of Sona lore and how her gameplay starts slow with pokes but intensifies into late game. It's just... I dunno... I can't describe it! Just felt right :)

It reminds a bit of Mannheim Steamroller, in a sense. Like modernized classical music. The song feels like a journey across Valoran... Starting in the fields of Demacia, crossing the Serpentine river just north of the Howling Marsh and heading to the Frejlord. Then proceeding along the Ironspike Mtns., passing near Piltover and Zaun. Heading through Noxus and into Icathia. - briefly brushing the Voodoo Lands. Coming through the Morgon Pass and back into Demacia.

Wow! Being compared to Manheim Steamroller is a great honor. I love their style of music. :D While I was writing this music I stumbled upon a fan made map of Valoran and I imagined Sona going to all these places for her concerts. I guess that somehow had a subconscious influence on how the track turned out to be. So in a sense, you pretty much nailed the travelling bit. :)

I'm not sure if I like the Nami track or the Sona track better - they're both wonderful pieces. They both really encapsulate the champion. One thing I do really like about Sona's piece is that is feels like there's a bit of classic old school Sona with DJ Sona undertones. It tells a bit more of a story about the kind of composer both she - and you - are. :]

Well, since it was your request, I couldn't do a half-assed job at it now could I? :) Glad you liked it. Although I always think that these songs could be so much better if more musicians could be working on it with more instruments and better recording technology. After all, teamwork OP! :)

But seriously, thanks for taking out the time to tell me what you thought about the song. All the effort was worth it just for that comment! :) Means a lot to me when people from Riot like the music.
