A few things from a non-ranked (I'm a never-ranker) player. But having been a competitive athlete, I do know the

  1. Play lots of champions. Finding a one-trick only means that you will lose, when people find out you can't play anything else and ban you out. There is also a different side of playing lots of champs, besides learning how to play them, you learn how to play against them. You know their strengths and limitations more intimately when you have played the champ.
  2. Don't think of bots & normals as "it's just bots/normals". Use them as practice to learn the mechanics of the champions.
  3. Leave your ego at the door, and don't worry about rank. Play for the purpose of learning and helping your team, and the winning will happen.

Oh trust me, you will have improved ALOT. Its just practice really, and getting lucky.

Finding champions you are good with is massively important for improving at the game, since you need to focus less on individual champion mechanics and you can focus more on the core gameplay.

well I'm not sure if all of it stays up to date, but you can certainly find a lot of info (surprising tips/tricks even) on the wiki pages. Like they even said that 'smite can be used to clear minions out of the way to hit skillshots such as Blitz/Thresh hook' which most people know this, but I wouldn't expect that coming from the wiki page.

anyways... one of the only true ways to get better at league is by making sure you know what to expect from Every champion, counterbuilding is important (although not many people realize this, instead they just follow PrO bUiLdS online SMH, people like that buy merc treads against a team with no cc and All basic attack damage, yeah pro builds ftw) and to counterbuild some champs you'll need to know exactly what abilities do magic/physical, if it applies on-hits, blah blah. Learning everything about the champs is HUGE because that can also tell you when they will use their abilities, leading to you being a faker script god dodger Just Because you know that they have a certain ability That They Will Use.

other than knowing all champ info, the rest would just be actually getting clean with your mouse movements, paying attention to and working with your team, know that just because you lost lane doesn't mean you're useless to the rest of match, keep a close eye on both team's jungler

that's all I have... i'm no pro but yeah man pay close attention to all champs and learn their abilities down to a 'i now know when he's going to use the skillshot, because it's one of his only abilities and HE IS going to use it'
