Ranked solo/duo matchup system

[zombie-brand-mindblown] Tonight i was playing ranked solo, i met a silver 4 player (mid) duo with a gold 2 player (top) on the enemy team. Of course their top laner destroyed our top and eventually solely carried the game. I thought people with big rank gap cannot play ranked duo together. We were winning the early game. Then this top lane Jayce just destroyed us all. It has created an unpleasant game experience for all of us. In addition, none of my teammates nor me were gold, yet they had a gold 2 and a gold 4 player. The average MMR on each side was obviously not fair for the matchup.
