Want to Know WHY You Think League is Dead?

CRAB FLEXER·12/24/2018, 5:42:30 PM·48 votes·15,615 views

It's because you spend time on these boards. People actively witch hunt riot for literally every single decision they make, and there's only room for people that dislike the decisions Riot makes.

I personally LOVE the game. I love its current state aside from the top lane meta, and I love playing the game for multiple hours every day. I know alot of people that loves the game as it is now. But we don't use boards. This site is literally only used for whining and complaining at this point. People log on to rant and not to have an actual discussion. Let me list a few of the problems that makes me leave instantly every time I visit the boards:

  1. Ignoring Factual & Statistical arguments - The boards are way too biased. Anybody that spends enough time here knows what I mean.

  2. "I'm new to the game and _____" No you're not, you're a random smurf account. There is no way a level 15 player would make a post about Camille doing too much damage - They wouldn't even know what too much damage was yet, and they wouldn't be able to identify smurfs either. These people are scammers that tries to "prove" that the new players in league aren't enjoying the game. While the truth is they're not on boards and they're DEFINITELY not knowledgeable about balance nor do they pretend to be.

  3. Ranting - Legit what is wrong with some of you people? Tower plating is GREAT and it slows down the pace of the game while rewarding you for slowly taking down a turret. This is what you asked for for years. Slower games with more impactful decision making. With more meaningful laning phases. Then when riot gives you that, you suddenly change your mind and say you don't want impactful laning phases.

We're people that loves this game and love playing it as well. We just don't come here to rant about how much we like the game, because that's a waste of time anyway because people on here just wants to watch the world burn. Check any top post on boards. Find ANY sort of positivity in a comment and it'll be downvoted. And you wonder why Rioters doesn't spend their time responding to gameplay "discussions" on here. It's honestly depressing.

Why do you like the current state of affairs? I am trying to understand the mindset of someone who likes the massive damage and rapid matches.

I started playing this game nearly 4 years ago, when 45 minute matches were a regular occurrence. I enjoyed spending days playing LoL, fighting the long matches, it actually felt like a battle, instead of some random and senseless bar fight.

I just don't understand the appeal of matches where a single ability is capable of tearing off a third of ones health bar, or where matches are decided in the first ten minutes.

I 100% agree. The boards or forums in general are just a cesspool of negativity and hate. Negative opinions resonate so much more, because everybody goes through them and negative experiences have so much more impact on us as humans.

Also it's the same deal every single preseason: People exaggerate, people get really REALLY angry about how the games go, ignoring that every preseason features these types of volatile games because of the changes introduced with it.

Yep. The moderators are talking about removing this sort of discussion. It’s not good for anyone, the ones posting it included.

Its hard to believe new people love this game tbh

Its more like they play the game because they have friends who have played for a long time playing league.

I've yet to see someone starting league, become serious at becoming good at it, since 2015-2016

And I'm talking about people starting it from people I know IRL from work or friends of friends.

These same people never touch the boards either.

Out of the dozens, only one plays ranked competitively. And even then he only goes hard once in awhile because he'll climb to plat II or plat I, get frustrated over the course of it and take long breaks until the next time he climbs up to plats I or II. This has been happening since season 6 for him. (Although he has been playing since beta)

Everyone else say they "want to get good," but when it comes time to dedicate, they view grey screens, get discouraged, and give up until their next "I wanna get better" moment.

That or they give up and surrender themselves to the ARAM gods.

On release tower plating was pathetic, it made turrets fall like paper post 14 and increased gold early game champs received by nuts. You have to be blind not to see this, even riot admitted it.

Riot buffed post plating resistances and plan to nerf plating gold. Maybe then plating will be fine, but on release, it DEFINITELY was not fine, and people were right to complain about it.

And here you are sitting on your high horse claiming they are wrong without providing an actual argument, do you not see the irony?

Youre having fun because you are smurfing... lmao and playing yasuo and riven. I too have fun when i abuse new players with op champs. Level 19 lol

smurfing is a huge problem in my opinion, it can hurt or scare away new players since lets face it, 1-30 bronze to plat/diamond kind of things were very popular for a long time. Well how would you go about doing this? Normally by smurfing or trolling games to get to bronze and then climbing. Either case is a problem, but Riot is unlikely to do something to prevent smurfing since they will count as another player whom may bring money to their pockets.

I know they can't instantly determine smurfs from new players before they play but if their was an option to identify as a smurf and people would actually be honest about it. They could separate them from new players, hell most smurfs prob won't be able to tell the difference since they are probably playing another smurf anyways. While new players would be playing with other new players for the first 5-10 levels or so.

When I was new last year I didn't even know LoL Boards did exist, and it's taken me about 8 months or now to get a handle on what should be normal damage. [zombie-nunu-bummed] All I know is why my 2860 RP Infinity Gauntlet Ezreal now that League is working with Marvel.

Good thing you explained why you like this game...oh wait.

And just to add something to this part

Check any top post on boards. Find ANY sort of positivity in a comment and it'll be downvoted. And you wonder why Rioters doesn't spend their time responding to gameplay "discussions" on here. It's honestly depressing.

I'm sorry, I didn't know the company was ran by a bunch of kids who need to be cuddled and showered by a bunch of sweet words when you want to communicate with them.

They are running a fucking business. They are giving their customers a product. If customers aren't satisfied by that product, they have every right to complain, no matter how positive or negative the comment is. If Riot won't listen, their customers will become upset, and will be very hostile towards them, for a good reason. And if they won't listen, and won't fix their product because BOHOOO THEY ARE MEAN TO US WAHHHHHH, then guess what happens?

COMPANY. FAILS.

tl;dr If they don't want to go broke, they need to listen to every comment, even the most hurtful ones.

EDIT: It's also funny how you say this

"I'm new to the game and _" No you're not, you're a random smurf account. There is no way a level 15 player would make a post about Camille doing too much damage - They wouldn't even know what too much damage was yet, and they wouldn't be able to identify smurfs either. Nice try. I hardly believe you still enjoy this game.

Anyway, just have a look at your friendlist.

While I agree the boards is just a "fuck rito" circle-jerk toxic pit when it comes to balance, its not entirely wrong. The thing is those recycled rants and complaints all originated with a legitimate issue with the game that is only getting worse with each patch. The boards just reposts them over and over again endlessly.

Is the game in a good spot? No, this is the least fun League has ever been. Damage is way too high, turret plating was garbage upon release and is still bad (although they are aware of it and are actually trying to fix it), champion pool consists of the same 20 champions just being recycled into the top 10 over and over again with each new patch while 90%+ of the roster is near useless.

Game matches has returned to 40+ minutes regularly, but the games are still decided by 10 minutes, so its honestly worse now. At least before the game was over by 25 minutes, now the losing team has to sit through 30-35 minutes of constantly being behind and losing.

Why do I think the game is dead (or dying) because I quit playing it. I was someone who thought I would play it no matter what just because I liked the characters and the idea behind it. It gave me something to do and all my friends were playing it so we could always make it fun regardless of how bad the game was. That has changed, none of us play it anymore and it hasn't been fun for a long time. I am not saying I am so important that me quitting the game is going to have an impact, i am just one person. But I am positive I am not the only one who thought like that but ended up quitting.
