Does ranked actually have anything to do with your rank? Riot wants us in low elo.
I have played 5 games today, 4 of those game, someone went afk. I did not win a single one of those 5 games. I lose more than 70LP and got deranked. Why do we get penalized for our teams poor behavior? Ranked is a mode where we test our own skills against others with intent to climb to the top. I dont believe riot wants us to climb to the top tho.
Being in challenger would mean you are the top 1-2% of the players who play this game. If being in challenger meant you were the top 20-30% of player, 'challenger' would lose all of its meaning. There would be no satisfaction to reaching challenger because 30% of the people who play this game reach that rank. Riot is very well aware of this. So, they create a ranked system that forces you into a 'class'. Similar to a lower class, middle class, and upper class in economic terms. A mass majority of players are put into the lower class (Bronze, Silver, Gold). Now this is normal in most games but, riot is very sneaky with their system. You see, while climbing, it doesnt matter what YOUR stats or or how well you are doing, its all about the team. Which brings me to my point, why do i get penalized for my teams poor behavior? Riot could very easily rank us based on our own stats but, choose not to. They look at the team as whole. This seems logical on paper but, does not work well in practice. We all know people tilt and afk on a regular basis in this game, so why do we get the blunt end of it? Even if we play what could be considered a 'perfect game', we could still lose the game resulting in MMR drop and LP loss. Then the following game, on average, the players are slightly less skilled than the game before. So, the odds of winning that next game, go down. Not because u played poorly or did something wrong but, because someone gave up or went afk in your previous game. I would love to say riot doesnt want you to get penalized but, i believe they do. If rank was based on each individual player instead of a team of 5 random people, people would rank up a lot more. Then the population of the higher elos would increase which means being in those high elos, loses its effect. If 50% of the players are in the top 3 elos, then whats the point of climbing to those elos? There isnt one.
Thats why we have the system we have now. It is to keep the mass majority of people in low elos so, the satisfaction of getting to high elos stays where it is. It is a political move that i highly disagree with. I have been getting quitter af quitter after quitter and my only option is to report them. I dont want to contribute to toxic nature of the game by trying to get someone in trouble so, they are prevented from playing the game. I just want to climb to the top using my skill to contribute to the team, win or lose, credit should be given to those who do well. believe i have what it takes to climb to the top but cant make it out of the lower class due to teammates poor behavior.
I have contacted riot numerous times about this issue and the only main response is to report them. Everyone is entitled to a bad day and reporting is to kick them while they are down. The lose is enough of a burden to said individual, why does the whole team get penalized for it though? Reporting is not the correct response to people who go afk. People wouldn't get reported for having an off day if their whole team did not get penalized for it.
This is a very competitive game and can get heated. Its all part of the game though. Reporting someone for leaving a game is merely adding to the toxicity. People wouldn't get upset about it, if they were not penalized for it. It's 100% out of their control, yet they reap the consequences.
RITO i'd love to hear any thoughts on this topic
