A reason why there are barely any female players in League and in professional

It has come to my attention that a new league team has been made, team Pandacute, this team is all female. Though I believe it was only made to make money who knows. The leader of this team is supposedly a master rank player. For years now people have asked why there are barely any female players in League and in professional. Well think of it this way, say a girl comes into a game with the name like ShootThemDownGirl or PuppyAnCatChick, most of the time you will get "Are you a girl?" "Look a gamer girl" "How old are you?" along with name calling, sexism, and many other hurtful things. By the end of it usually you get upset and the people who said those things then try to add you. It can get tiring and just makes you want to stop playing. League is a very toxic and hateful game because of its community, if you were to go onto rank right now and play a match, you will find your team screaming, cursing, and hating on each other. So for some, they just choose to not play rank and not play League. Riot has tried over the years to calm down the toxic and hate but it still happens. If you ever want females to get into League more, we all have to calm down, start respecting each other and treat others like how you would want to be treated. If someone is being treated badly don't sit there and watch, defend them, it doesn't matter if they are on your enemy team or not, no one should be treated badly. For such a toxic community this is a big step but in the future, maybe one day, we may see kinder people and more women. This is my own thoughts and opinions, if you would like to share yours then please leave a comment and try to keep it positive. Thank you. ~KittyLovesPoros [slayer-jinx-catface]

... My name is girly and I've never ever had people "harassing me for having a female nickname" (and yes I'm a guy). And yes I do have female friends in LoL, and no, they never got harassed for being girls (and why the fuck would they have to show they're female). When you have streamers like PinkSparkle (is that her name ? Forgot) don't complain that she gets slut shamed.

Heck 90% of the time people don't even acknowledge your name and call you by your champion.

There are creeps like that, yeah. But that generally doesn't happen unless you're making a show of being a girl, trying to get dudes to treat you better or get something out of it.

As for why there aren't women in pros... there probably just aren't many with the right combination of skill and desire to do so. This isn't like real sports, where physical limitations must be considered. So you could believe there's some conspiracy stopping girl gamers from going pro, or just go with the simplest answer-- there just aren't any yet with the aptitude who also want to be.

All arguments aside (like obviously the male conduct is inappropriate, but you're never going to convince 10-14y.o. boys to act with maturity...), why do girls feel the need to identify their gender in their character name?

I mean, I get that you have different likes. I get that girls may pick a name they find "cute". There are names that are kind of implying you're female versus names that explicitly identify it though. Honestly - I think girls (and many guys) pick names that are explicitly female because they're used to RPGs where for whatever ridiculous reason male players will give female characters free stuff pretty often and help them out a lot. However in a game like league, that doesn't happen. There's no "easy mode" for female players, so there's naturally going to be less of them.

If it was really just the hate, females could just pick generic names and completely avoid the problem... (I agree it's a problem and shouldn't need to be avoided, but in the meantime why not avoid it?)

This fkin Riven harassed me all game, heck he asked me to fuck him at one point, so I (naturally) muted and reported him. After lobby, he continued to harass me and tried to add me as a friend. I was so tilted I couldn't play any more league all day! [zombie-brand-facepalm] [zombie-brand-clap]

One cannot accurately claim that there is "barely" any female players in League, largely because we cammot access those numbers and information. People still just associate games to guys despite, and my information is old, about 48% of people who play games are female.

As for pro scene, they have to have a desire to do it along with the skills. Don't get me wrong, Master rank is amazing to a scrub like me; but most pros come up through challenger scouting.

I keep getting asked if im a furry. I ignore them and occasionay mute them and report them if it gets to harrassment levels.

I also am friends with multiple females in league.

What people need to do is figure out "oh hey, someone is trying to harrass me. There is a nifty button called 'mute' that i can use to rid myself of the chat. Maybe i should use that on those that are trying to harrass"

I have a MAJOR problem with your commentary of "defend them, dont just ignore them". This is that argueing with the person trying to harrass someone, is only going to give them what they want.... attention. Deny trolls attention on which they feed and they starve. As has been for since online games came out pretty much, and as has been in real life for many times before that.

With doing that, it will leave the kinder people, and women wont feel as singled out because they are not giving the attention to the people that are obsessing about them.

EDIT: Also with the "defending them", people do that and they argue for 20 minutes, which only those women that enjoy seeing people fighting over them will enjoy. Thus why people get chat restricted and punished over ADDING TO THE FIRE.
