Newcomer thoughts

When I glance at the general discussions I am shocked to see all the vulgar language used. Sure you can block people in world but why is it allowed on the discussion board? I know people will probably cuss at me here also. Look I swear too but I can omit it when I want to. Also I see a lot of threads that have absolutely nothing to do with the game, nothing! Kitties, politics etc....it's confusing to a newcomer. What is allowed, what isn't. I think cleaning it up a little would help and to stay specific about the game. Bumping just to keep your thread up top should be a bannable offense if done 3 times or more. Just some tips.

GD is it's own pocket community. It's actually a lot less cancerous than it used to be, but it's still a darn good cancer. Each board here has a culture associated with it and people that make up said culture.

Part of it's culture is left here, archived. Some things just don't change with time. GD shouldn't be cleaned up, and it shouldn't be made league specific because you're effectively killing what makes it GD.

As far as rules go, there's a rules thread at the top, but like most things with large communities there's a lot for moderators to chew. Sorry for your bad experience normie, but don't expect things to change.

Well that is indeed some valueable feedback to hear.

Specifically, as a newcomer to this particular sub board, is there a way you can think of to help better inform first time visitors to GD of the types of things they might find, discussions that could be and the reasoning for allowing them or disallowing them.

Are there too many kittens?

More importantly, as this would be a true disaster, are there NOT enough kittens and we need more?

What could help make this place more inviting and less intimidating to a first time poster?

General Discussion is a community driven sub-board, as opposed to other sub boards which are more topic driven. Meaning, it is the place you can talk about non league related content, and basically just talk, share media, etc. GD can be a bit much at first, as with the increased freedom you will have more people who you might find unsavory. But the community there is actually quite good once you get to know them. Remember, haters gonna hate. There will be posters who will troll or insult you (if you feel they crossed a line, please feel feel to report them), but there will also be good posters who will welcome you there. With some patience, GD can become a fascinating place.

As for the rules, here is a list of the GD specific rules: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/GD/V6feOvnV-10182016-official-gd-rules

And as with all sub boards, they must also follow the universal boards rules: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/player-behavior-moderation/4LgZ2EwM-universal-rules

If you wish to only view and participate in league of legends related threads, I suggest you use a specific sub-board such as Gameplay, or concepts and creations.

Hopefully, this should help. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Wait, wait wait....

Who goes somewhere and thinks, "Hm, this place has too many kittens!" ?

But for real, as has been said GD is a little different than other communities, and while all the boards can curse freely, GD is the only one allowed to discuss any subject (with a few exceptions) rather than one specific subject.

I would recommend giving us more of a chance before you throw us overboard like that. A lot of what you see that looks unsavory is more inside joking and banter, since everyone there has more of a sense of community than the other boards. We are usually pretty accepting of new comers, just come over and hang out some times, most of us are relatively sane.

Relatively anyway.

I believe your entire post can be summed up in 2 ez words... "GET GUD". League isn't a game for thin skinned PC people. You can always hop on the fatty 2k or madden if you're not trying to get offended.
