You have not seen the worst of mods.
What you're complaining about is peanuts, imo.
To give you an example: There are mods that will intentionally go into a heated thread with the implicit purpose of manipulating the dominant agenda by removing comments tactically, not necessarily because they broke the rules but because the mods are personally at odds with certain comments and just had to flex their moderation privilege to make sure they don't exist, in order to steer the general conscious of the thread remaining parallel to their own while doing it in the name of order.
......
I'd been subjected to that shit less than a week ago. I very unfortunately loaded up a thread where OP used a low-brow "meme" image that contained heavily racial implications which they very quickly changed at some point before my browser finished loading the thread, and I commented accordingly by pointing that out because the image I saw was the original one before the change. I then realised that OP had changed the image, and commented accordingly stating that my initial comment was directed at the PREVIOUS image, and not the current one.
Now, some people for some reason started accusing me of framing the OP, which I wasn't and provided the exact same image OP had used to illustrate my point. And ofc, with how reactionary at least half of the Board community is, they immediately bite on me like a bunch of pirarucu fish; there were countless bold faced insults directed at my person, ironically framing me for being a framer, and the usual downvote brigading.
Oh, mods came in on duty! How nice! Guess what they did?
They removed my post that supplemented my statement that my initial complaint was directed at the PREVIOUS image OP had used which no longer applies after the advent of the replacement. They did that supposedly for "reposting the material isn’t the best course of action". However, not just editing my post so it doesn't have the image anymore and replace the url line with a statement of something like 'removed for moderation' which I KNOW they could do, but nope, they removed the ENTIRE post.
Fine, fine. Tell me what else you did to police this shitty nuclear wasteland of a thread?
Nothing. They did nothing apart from that. The entire thread is completely intact save for that single post of mine where I substantiated my statement and is arguably the most critical one in the said substantiation, being deleted by mods. All the insults and outright bullying are all still there. All they did was effectively fueling the flame of the people who accuses me of falsely accusing the OP.
And they had the audacity to also lock the comments but did NOT disable the voting. So that is what the mods thought was the perfect state to keep in a time-capsule: a thread about a guy being heavily bullied by like 50 (I guess that since my post broke negative like 50 votes or something. Whatever, let's just say it's a high number) random guys because of the latters' own misunderstanding of the situation, which the mods just also have to jump in and MAKE SURE that misunderstanding will stay by outright removing my explanation and did literally nothing else to actually police the vibrant toxicity in that thread. What a great state to freeze that thread, umm hmm, let's all keep this blatant abuse preserved for eternity presumably for laughs for all to see.
Fucking great moderation. 10/10.
Now, this is obviously not directed to all mods; I do think most mods are pretty awesome like The Djinn, Jikker (Jikkar? Jikkor?) etc to name a couple. But it's much like how some police are just thugs with a license, some mods are just some trash poster with the moderation power. After all, anyone can be a mod so long they bother with completing the program to become one, so what stops a shit person becoming a shit mod? Very little.
