Why is this community so soft?

People shit talk in video games all the time. I don't get why the company accommodates people who can't handle words over the internet. Why is there a mute button? The person who is getting insulted or annoyed has the ability to mute communications. Even when I am not talking in a game I always see people bickering and not once will someone use the mute button. You know why? Because deep down they are curious and want to hear what the other guy has to say. I usually don't talk shit in the game anymore cause I think the community is actually just way too soft, but I don't get why we're not allowed to. It's a fucking video game. I literally had 3 games out of 5 with an afk and I'm annoyed as shit, but I'm not allowed to say anything to the guy who reconnects and ints 5 times? Are you joking me? We're not robots. It's not like it's a fresh start every new game. I had a guy go 0-5 and then tell me he was tilted from his last game. I want to say something to him but this game won't allow it. But him saying he is feeding cause he is upset from his last game is no issue or a reportable offense whatsoever. It's actually dumb that these cowards use the report button as a weapon. It's so abused. Once again, I'm not even getting reported cause I know how to work around it. But I do find it annoying that you are able to be super passive aggressive and then get someone report for saying a swear or an insult once. It's actually bullshit. Remove the mute button then. At least make it look like the people who spam report over any little thing are actual victims. I only use the report button on afkers and inters. Honestly, to report someone for just speaking words that rubbed you the wrong way is actually pathetic.

This argument goes both ways and is generally up to the discretion of the company when deciding what is or isn't enforced.

I don't get why the company accommodates people who can't handle words over the internet.

I wouldn't understand why a company would openly promote players telling each other to kill themselves or flaming at every given opportunity. It's generally just unprofessional, off putting to new players, and some people just don't want to have to deal with it.

Why is there a mute button? The person who is getting insulted or annoyed has the ability to mute communications. Even when I am not talking in a game I always see people bickering and not once will someone use the mute button.

A mute button is not an excuse to treat others like dirt.

It's actually dumb that these cowards use the report button as a weapon. It's so abused.

It's not cowardly. Most players don't want to be flamed when trying to play a video game. I report players who flame, grief, and AFK because I don't want those players in my games and I don't want them to continue acting like that while negatively impacting the community.

Honestly, to report someone for just speaking words that rubbed you the wrong way is actually pathetic.

I think it's pathetic to relentlessly flame and harass people you don't know for mistakes made in an online, T rated video game. People need to learn how to treat others with common decency and I'm getting really tired of people calling me an SJW, or a snowflake, or a pansy, or sensitive because I value different things.

  1. Unfortunetly you are not going to change this white knights minds.

  2. Rito doesn't understand that it is the game, not community, I don't remember any game that maked me so angry, from single player ones to competitive hardcore MMOs to Dota, that feeling that you are stucked in game with 4 ppl, you can't do shit, you can't leave, that's the source of problem, if I'll get beaten in lane, ok, but when my bot and top goes 0/8 and you are just sitting there with open mouth, I want to bang my head against wall.

  3. Writting doesn't help, especially insulting some one, I used to use argument it will boost you/teammate, but it is just bullshit, you will share/spread tilt, so I see why Riot is doing it, eventhough it won't solve the main problem.

  4. There are still countless ways to fool system from irony to modified slurs and I'm kinda sad that it is safer to say modified K or N word, instead just moron, r%%%%%, ape etc.

  5. I think mute button was made to mute person that you will just rep after game for toxicity, not like you will click that and dude will stop, you just won't see it, but for whatever reason some ppl won't use it and tilt will spread.

  6. We are not robots, but it just isn't healthy, I mean I don't like compering internet with reality, but in both we can say IMO that releasing anger is nice in short time, but in long term it is just not good.

  7. If you are that angry that you can't even save your invested money(see countless threads on boards) there is something wrong.

  8. Soft community? Not rly. When I reported some one for insults, it was just from anger, not bcs I was hurt or insulted, it is big difference.

So what to take from this? You can take it like army training against stress and interrogation, jokes aside, it is nice to control yourself(4 permas btw, but I'm clear for 8 months, but I'm still toxic sometimes) and it is rly hard on internet, taking nice walks helped me as well.

I think that you're severely misunderstanding something.

Riot does not care about shit talk. What they do care about is the fact that every time someone starts shit-talking, they're afk at base targetting a specific person who didn't do what they want while the enemy is running through their lane.

Why does Riot care about afk shit talkers? Because the players care about someone intentionally ruining the experience and causes a loss, all so they can talk shit.

If you wanna spend all your time talking shit, that's what Twitter is for. If you're trying to play League of Legends, play League of Legends.

I definitely did not leave enough context. Whether you choose to believe or not, not that it makes the argument change, if you are commenting about me I want to say that I actually never flame people based on any mechanical error make. If someone misses a Blitz Q 5 times in a row even though the enemy did not dodge it, I just assume the Blitz is not very good and I do not make a comment on it. I do however say something if for example, I am mid lane and I place a ward in the river and then ping missing, and do a stepping stone pings that the enemy mid is going bot, while also typing out "He is roaming bot," all while I am being shoved at my tower by the enemy jungler (So I can't roam as well). That type of shit first of all annoys me. But even then I just say fuck it. But guess what I get flamed by these scrubs that can't take all the warnings in the world, and then obviously I retaliate. I went from letting it go to responding because it's obviously due to a lack of awareness that my teammates died. I also say something when I am mid, and I see my top get solo killed in the first 3 min. And no, I don't flame him for dying, I only start talking when he starts blaming the jungler who obviously still is farming camps. Yes, that annoys me. But I don't understand the logic "That top will get banned for flaming." So I can't shit talk shit top who is crying for the next 10 min when it was his own fault? I can't display that I am annoyed from a player disconnecting for 10 minutes, coming back only to feed 5 kills in a row? The situations are subjective obviously, but this isn't fucking Hitler's Germany. That top should flame if he wants, even if he is right or wrong, and the players in the team whether it is me as mid or my jungler defending himself should be able to say whatever the fuck they want. I never said the mute button is there to treat others like dirt. Your actually coming to your own conclusions. I merely said it can objectively stop you from having to read what the person shit talking you is saying. Also, Riot definitely does care about shit talk. You're delusional if you think it is only about afkers. And I literally get into arguments about reporting an afker. You think that shits not toxic? My teammate afks and then the enemy says that they aren't reporting them, because they're happy they got a free win. Obviously if they were empathetic enough they would know how annoying it is when it happens to themselves. But I regret posting on here. Probably won't even reply after this. I just realized the only people who would actually read this are people who actually roam forums all day and probably don't even play ranked.
