Sion's being worked on at the moment and basically as big a job as a new champion in terms of assets that need to be produced, questions that need to be answered, testing needed etc. As a result he's taking a lot longer than other smaller reworks.

Can understand your frustration he hasn't been reworked sooner, while we've talked about his need for a rework previously though this year's the first time we've announced it as something we're actively working on. Not sure what you're referring to from two years ago as a result.

Could I voice my (limited) opinion on Sion?

I feel he's far too magical. By that, I mean I never liked he has a point and click stun nuke that's supposedly him "staring at an enemy so hard that it damages and stuns him". That's DnD Wizard territory right there. The same goes for his magic shield, that too is something I feel does not belong. It's a great concept imo, but I don't think it belongs on Sion.

Sion should be a sluggish brute that ignores attacks and cc designed to hold him back. He shouldn't be fast, but he should be unstoppable. If he sees a target, he will shamble towards that target and he will use whatever he gets his hands on to pummel that target. Axe, or a chopped off arm, or bare hands doesn't matter.

Of course, this is from a person doesn't play Sion much. But why else do you think I disliked playing him?

I agree with your opinion, except for the magic shield part. Sion should have at least have ONE type of magic move due to his lore saying he was resurrected with magic, and that he had enhanced abilities of what he had before.

'enhanced abilities' is not the same as 'entirely new abilities'. enhanced abilities for a fighter would mean being better at killing things and surviving having things trying to kill you, not eye lasers

Well, I was talking about the shield.

Well yes, the very fact that he is standing and moving at all is all the evidence you need that he was resurrected with magic. Him being a champion is probably the evidence of his enhanced abilities.

We're thinking roughly along the same lines - undead juggernaught, raw physical power, heavy and brutal.

Is it possible to keep the exploding shield? Because that is probably the funnest part of playing Sion in my opinion, followed closely by healing your teammates with your auto attacks, which is pretty cool too.

WHYREWORKRENGAR2 votes

Same. I liked the exploding shield as it was a fun mechanic for Sion, and they can just change the scalings to health or damage to make it fit.

I know a rework that might please you, it's not mine, but it shows the undead juggernaught you might be reffering to. http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Willbachbakal/(Champion_Rework)_Sion,_the_Undead_Champion

While the shield is still out of place (Sion toughens himself up and then...explodes?), and while Sunder's range seems a bit too high (but otherwise justifies a projectile on a melee-oriented champion, as it only yields its full reward once melee range has been reached), this redesign seems pretty spot-on in regards to capturing the essence of an undead warrior.

The only things I dislike about his current kit is the target stun and massive regen ult. There a times when I cant tell mundos ult from sions.

Well, I'm glad there's someone who finally agrees with me on this!

Unfortunately, it seems that at the very least they will be keeping his shield (which, while it is a cool mechanic, exploding bubble shield doesn't really make sense on an undead, axe-wielding brute, and the only thing VFX can do to help it is make it a bit less out-of-nowhere--like with Sivir's spellshield kind-of-sort-of).

Judging from Meddler's response, they might possibly maybe change their stance on the shield--and I hope they do--but at the very least this relaunch seems like it will probably have Sion make a little more sense.

Mmmm. I know it will take long, as it is one of the hardest projects you guys have, but don't you guys have any news for him? He needed a rework back in season 2 (or season one, but he had strong ap ratios back then) and it's disappointing that nothing's popped up yet. Also, I think you guys should make him into the champ that focused on his lore, a huge undead battering ram that could maybe scale off of (health?) Here's a proposed kit I have, (just posted it up there) http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=4637410 EDIT: The thing I was referring two from two years ago was when you guys announced he needed a rework in 2012 or he was getting one.

On a more artistic matter: of course there will be a classic skin? I love the arnie quotes.
And about VO, same person? Current voice may be little generic but I love it also, so deep.
