General Sion Rework Discussion - Purpouse, Priority, and Perfection.

Setting this thread up as the general thread for discussion of sion and his rework, so ideas can be concentrated here. Quick things about what this thread is and is not for.

  1. This thread is for discussion sion and his rework, and what place he should have. This thread is NOT for throwing in your new spell ideas (especially with some of you giving the infinite health champ abilities dealing damage based off of % health.) Leave spells and spell mechanics to the people who are paid to work on these.
  2. Don't start a "sion is perfectly fine" discussion here. Sion needs a rework like irelia needs a nerf. I've played him pretty much non stop since level 18, and he is far from a good place.

That's the main things that need covering for rules. Onto what exactly is wrong with sion:

Purpouse: Sion doesn't have much of a purpose/nice right now. Basically, sion has two main purpouses in game: be this ap caster who bursts everyone around him and leaves before you can react, or to be this cow top lane who ignores roaming to get 200 farm at 20 minutes, then starts waiting at enemy base and proxys top and mid lane minions. Filling those roles are every ap midlaner ever, and singed. Sion is outclassed as a tank, and outclassed as a bruiser. He doesn't fit in the two roles he can currently do as well as he could. This leads us to the first big question.

What is sions purpose?

If you want to rework sion you have to understand a few things about him. First off, after reading his lore, you realize his title is as accurate as calling fiora "the French champion". That is not what he was in his lore. Sure he is a zombie, but at heart, sion's lore pretty much shows him as one thing. A human battering ram. Now he's a zombie battering ram, and if he wants to get to somewhere, you better pray to phreak that you're not in his way. Sion isn't the unread champion. He is the noxian battering ram. The current problem is that sion isn't that. Right now he's the "noxian 1v5 at your nexus while taking turret shots from both turrets." Or the "noxian candyass mage" which leads us to problem one, which is where I am ending this post for the night-

What should a noxian battering ram be? For me, he should be the type of champion who if your team is pushing, they'll be pushing harder because of him. He should be a huge offensive tank, but not a good defensive one. He should be able to push towers harder than anyone else, but If he gets caught out, he shouldn't be able to 1v2 and walk put with 3 kills, a turret, and full health. Sion should be able to make a 4v5 push a 5v5 push. But what is that to you? I'll be covering the priority part later.

If anyone says "Sion is fine!", I'm just going to offer to pay for a stint in rehab, 'cause... :I

I always felt that Sion's iconic place were tied into his abilities--specifically, his Q and his W. It was how I first learned to play him, and probably why a lot of people feel like his E and W are so... out of place. Sion seems like a champion who should ostensibly be knock-knock-knocking at your door until suddenly you can't quite ignore him anymore. And he's huge. And terrifying.

His passive seems to translate this poorly in comparison to other champions. It's a chance-based passive in a game where RNG isn't exactly a regular thing anymore. 60% chance for your passive to be useless and damage reduction that is pretty negligible late game. Imagine if they moved his E to his passive though... He'd definitely be moving in the direction of a tank. Now, whether or not an AP tank is a good thing or even viable... who knows? With all the uproar around Braum's shield, who knows how people would react if he had Enrage as a passive AND Death's Caress?
