The friends of players in low priority queues are not allowed to edit their runes/masteries.

One of my friends is in a low priority queue. So when I want to play with him I have to wait 20 minutes. That's not the issue. My issue is, while waiting in this queue I can't manage my runes and masteries. If I wanted to change my runes/masteries I would have to leave the queue and reset the 20 minute wait timer. I can understand if the player with the low priority queue is unable to edit their runes/masteries to punish them, however I don't understand why I should be punished as well.

For those who aren't aware; When you queue up with someone with a low priority queue, a popup comes up (similar to the one that comes up with a 6 min wait timer if one of your friends has dodged a queue recently) and displays the information about the low priority queue, the reason for it, and who is to blame for the queue. The only option at this point is to click the "leave queue" button at the bottom of the popup. You can literally do nothing besides sit there in queue for 20 minutes. I just want to edit my runes/masteries. I can see if the person with the low priority queue is unable to do this, but I don't see why I can't manage them while we wait.

I'm hoping this is just an unintentional feature/bug of the low priority queue and can be fixed soon. If there is a half-decent reason for it, please enlighten me (passive-aggressive connotations applied to this statement).

While I understand that inconvenience towards one's friends is another method of driving home "this is a punishment and should not be done again" for the particularly stubborn who don't really care about punishments towards themselves, personally I believe the longer que time alone should get that point across.

Hi again! Sorry for being too vague in my previous post. I honestly don't have an issue with how riot punishes players. The only issue I have is that the friends of those being punished are unable to edit their runes/masteries while they wait in the 20 minute queue.

It seems a bit ridiculous that riot would purposefully implement this. However, if their point is to, as you said; prevent the player from ever doing what they did wrong again, by inconveniencing not only them but those who choose to associate with them, then I cannot believe that riot has their priorities in order.

The current situation indicates that riot believes: by associating with a player who is being punished, you are, as 'Lumus Avatar' phrased it perfectly;

IMO it seems more likely that this is an unintended bug in the way the low priority queue works.

It's less that you're guilty by proxy, I think, and more a method of collective punishment -- though not in the war crimes sense.

You'll see this a lot in traditional sports teams. One or two team members will do something wrong, and as a result the entire team has to suffer. Hell -- we see it now in LCS from time to time. The idea isn't that you're guilty by proxy, it's meant to punish the perpetrator further by making their actions a detriment to their peers. I don't know about you, but you're going to have to make a really strong case to get me to sit in a punishment queue to play with someone, when I have other people I could be partying with who aren't being labelled as toxic/leavers/etc. And if you happen to want to play with me? I guess that's just further punishment for ending up in that low priority queue.

The other thing is, I don't know when I accept an invite from a friend, if that person is going to be in low prio for some reason. If Riot intends to keep the whole party from chat, masteries and runes, they should at least let us know that's the case when we accept or offer an invite.

Low priority queue is a shitty concept anyway, better than bans but it really shouldn't disable their whole League for that shitty counter.

Yea the pop up box is annoying and very confusing. A party of friends and I were queued with a low priority player, and we kept having member of our party accidentally closing the box and restarting the timer. I hope they find a better way to implement this feature that's not so obnoxious.
