Root does not seem to work properly on Tristana's rocket jump

So I have noticed that root effects do not seem to work right on Tristana and her rocket jump. I was playing Maokai and noticed that whenever I used twisted advance and rooted Tristana, she would rocket jump afterwards even with the root in place. Roots are supposed to stop all movement including abilities that move the character so I figure it's a bug.

When TristTristana uses Rocket Jump and gets debuffed with non-airborne crowd control (stuns, roots, etc.) while midair, she'll still complete that jump then the effects will take place. If she's affected by airborne crowd control (knock ups, knockbacks, etc.) it will interrupt her jump and act normally.

So, assuming that she's already midair when you rooted her she'll always complete her jump before receiving crowd control effects.

No, I'm not talking about that. What happened is that I rooted Trist and THEN she managed to do rocket jump somehow. I did so multiple times and every time I rooted her she would immediately take off anyways. As long as she hasn't used rocket jump yet, she should be unable to use it after being rooted right? Roots are supposed to prevent movement and the use of movement abilities while the effect is in place aren't they?

That's the long windup time on Rocket Jump coming to the fore. She's casting it before you actually hit her, but the animation still has to complete before she moves. Root would most certainly stop her from casting it, but she reacted quickly enough to jump first.

I'll have to try and test it when I get the chance just to be sure.

I don't think that is the case because the Trist I played against certainly didn't seem good enough to be able to do that on purpose every single time. I mean this occurred every single time where I used Twisted advance on Trist. They never jumped too early where I would follow them. I never managed to actually root them in place. I'm certainly not good enough to expect to be pitted against such a player.

If you're right though, then that seems like an unreasonable amount of safety for having a slow reaction time. Especially compared to other adcs I would think.

I'd be willing to try and test it. Perhaps something in Tristana's rework changed how her jump works, and is allowing it to break out of your root.
