Duo matchmaking ??

Was duo with my friend who’s gold 4 while I’m plat 4. So we got into a game and he stomped them. Hard. I was curious as to how it was possible for the enemy jax to be that bad so I went on op.gg to see their ranks. I scrolled through them and everything was relatively normals, plat 3-4 and low gold players, but when I went to the jax what I saw shocked me. He was BRONZE 1 I can understand if he was silver 1. But he was bronze 1. This has never happened to me when I was doing solo ranked only when I duo will my matchmaking be messed up
