[GAMEPLAY] In game item shop - game freezes when I try to buy or search

The game play is normal and it's not a champ specific bug that I can tell. All is fine EXCEPT when I click on the shop. It opens as normal but when I click in the search bar or any item it freezes. Only the graphics freeze though, the music keeps going. My mouse doesn't freeze and that led me to believe that it was a client issue instead of my computer. I took a few basic steps and made sure my graphics card was up to date and my comp wasn't overheating. I've had bugs before with the patches and I believe that this is another one. The client becomes unresponsive even to task manager, had to restart my computer to close it down. I have an HP ENVY latptop with AMD FX graphics, running Windows 8.1

1. load into a game
2. open shop
3. click to interact with shop (search or buy)
4. graphics freeze

This has happened 100% of the time since the update with Dark Star Thresh/Varus

I can play a match, but with no items :(
