Interesting Rakan Interaction

OK so I just found this in my last Rakan game.

Not sure whether it's a bug or intended, but his basic attacks DO NOT count as melee attacks for the execution purposes of the Relic Shield item line. Tested it both at range (where he uses his cape) and closer (when he slaps the target). Neither procs the execution.

Clarity Edit: Rakan's attacks ARE melee. No doubt about that. I only posted this thread because I noticed that whole game that I wasn't executing minions under the proper circumstances. If this is intended, Rito needs to explain why. If not, it needs to be fixed.

Edit #2: Thanks to Psyrix, found out that the reason behind this is because Rakan is coded as "ranged", which doesn't make ANY goddamn sense. WHY Rito?

... Rakan is coded as ranged. Similarly to Thresh. Only melee champion attacks will proc the execute. The only reason why thresh seems to proc the execute is due to the passive he gets from collecting souls.

Technically Rakan is melee

Yeah, this was stated since Rakan was released. It's because he's coded as ranged, hence he can buy Runnans and not Hydra. Thresh has a way to work around this easier with his E passive doing bonus damage when charged up, and Rakan doesn't have anything in his kit that allows him to take the last hit easily. If you find yourself having trouble last hitting with Rakan than what it's worth for, you can opt for the spell thief or coin instead.
