Ranked Champ Select Bug

So I was in the new champ select and i had ezreal picked for the champ i wanted to play. He was chosen by the other team, so i had to pick a new champion. I was picking back and forth between lucian and miss fortune to leave it up to fate to decide, but as the time ran out it just kicked me from the game saying that I abandoned it even though i had definitely picked a champion.

I had the idea that we could pick our champions then let the timer run out and then have our champions locked in automatically. If I'm wrong tell me, but please fix this if it needs fixing.
