[Gameplay] Jhin's w passive appearing when it shouldnt

I play Jhin on a daily basis with probably over a hundred game under my belt. Recently after the mage update patch, I've been noticing Jhin's w passive appearing on targets that none of my allies have attacked or even myself. I do not have the gameplay or the video for it as of now (Will update if it occurs after this point)

In this game as Jhin, I was scriming with a couple of friends when during the lategame I've noticed caitlyn carrying around my passive. At the moment, I thought perhaps an ally attacked her as I was no where near her so I engaged with my w to bind her. My ability connected as she suffered damage and was burning from my keystone, Deathfire, only thing out of the ordinary was the fact that she wasn't binded and still had my passive on her indicating I can bind her with w. Thinking it was only a one time thing, I reengaged on her a couple of minutes later where my team was looking for a pick and I engaged on her again with my w to initiate the pick. Same as before she wasn't binded. As my team was being pushed into the our base, I noticed braum with my icon on him. At this point I believed the only problem was with caitlyn and I engaged on him with my w to buy us time to regroup and leave him binded. Just like with caitlyn he wasn't binded but retained my icon on him. As a Jhin player, I'm aware that after the champion activates his w, the icon does not reappear till the cooldown is around 2 seconds so for the icon to remain after being activated for only two champions struck me as odd. I will display screenshots if this happens again but thought it should be looked into.
