[CLIENT] Client UI does not refresh sometimes

I have only briefly looked into a couple of similar bugs already posted here, but I have been having this problem with the client for at least a couple of weeks now and finally caved to create this bug report.

What Happens: Client UI will stop updating itself (e.g. timers will stop showing, champion select stops showing picked / banned champions, game lobby chat not updating for several seconds when I attempt to send a message). This is not just limited to subsets of UI controls, sometimes the entire client screen will stop refreshing the screen completely -- to the point where I can no longer even grab the window handle (at the top) to move it around.

Sometimes I will be modifying rune or mastery pages and the entire screen will not work anymore. Attached an example of this.

Further more, when I hovered over a friend's name in the friend list, it crashed the client. (wow) Several times now I have had the option to Debug the League client application because of crashes like this.

Attempted:

  • Repairing the client, that didn't work.
  • Uninstall and reinstall the client, that didn't work.
  • Restart my machine, that didn't work.
  • Turn off my firewalls, that didn't work.
  • Repair again, nope.

System:

  • Windows 8.1 64-bit
  • Phenom II X6 1100T
  • RAM: 24 GB
  • 2 Monitors, run League Game client in Borderless Window mode
  • Install path:
  • G:\League of Legends

Repro: Log onto client and do anything you'd normally do. Maybe have a full screen video on a second monitor? I believe it MAY happen less frequently if you stay focused on the LoL client window 100% of the time -- but who does that?

I am honestly kind of sad that a game this popular seems to lack a proper testing framework / process. Hard to reproduce bugs happen, I get it, but my client is just so broken (so many different bugs) it is nearly unplayable.

I would like to note I see no bugs when I get into an actual game -- it is just the mess of client side stuff that keeps me down.
