Unplayable FPS

Hello guys,

I recently started playing LoL again after a very long pause and I noticed a lot of issues regarding my FPS. First of all, the game starts between 80 and 100 FPS running at 1440p (both borderless and full screen), which by itself is extremely low considering my rig:

Asus Strix RTX 2080 Ti OC i7-8700K 3.7Ghz 32Gb RAM 3000Mhz It's liquid cooled but I don't think it matters for this.

My peripherals (posting in case it's something about the drivers): Acer Predator XB271H G-Sync Razer BlackWidow Chroma V2 Razer Mamba Tournament Edition Steelseries Arctis 5

Usually, with my old laptop running a poor GTX 980M, i7 4th or 5th gen at 1080p was providing around 180 fps maxed out, so I'm really confused as to how I should solve this.

I've been reading the latest posts here from players who have the same issue and I've tried most of the "solutions" to no avail. The only one I don't want to do is roll back my drivers because I've noticed significant improvements in other games and on my streaming quality with the new driver updates, and since I don't play for nearly 3 years, I would have to manually rollback until I find it, risking it being the 3 year old driver (lol).

Any help is appretiated, thanks in advance.

Nice rig!

Check the game / video settings. You can now do this from the Client, which is really nice. If v-sync is on, it can force a frame rate onto the game. There is also a box for specifying a maximum frame rate. This game is notorious for resetting some of these settings between updates.

Also, be wary of forcing settings through GeForce Experience. I once forced the game to run at 4k DSR using a 1080P monitor. Since restoring the defaults, my in-game item store will never go back to the original screen size.

Thanks for your answer, I'll try to re-teak things but my goal is to achieve my monitor's capabilities, aiming for 165Hz, which should be done pretty easily if it wasn't for the fact that after 5 minutes playing it drops to 50 fps. I don't know what to do anymore.

Do you lag at any specific points in the game? I've seen some major issues with FPS and stuttering lately, and everyone I've seen has indicated it started around patch 9.13. Riot insists it's not on their end but I'm not sure about that.
