Mordekaiser's ult deals almost no damage to champions no matter the level

League of Legends Match History

Today, while playing Mordekaiser in ARAM, I noticed that my ult (while it says it does x (+x)% of their max hitpoints) wasn't applying any damage in most scenarios for the "half on hit" part of the ult. Then, after watching the ult a few more times, I noticed it wasn't dealing anywhere close to half of their "max hitpoints" over 10 seconds.

Scenario to replicate:

Lux is 18, you (as Mordekaiser) are 18.

Lux Items -

  1. item 3174 2. item 1333 3. item 3089 4. item 3157 5. item 3001 6. item 3135 Your items -
  2. item 3146 2. item 3001 3. item 3065 4. item 3083 5. item 3151 6. item 3124

You can't tell me that with the little bit of magic resist that Lux had, that 48% of her maximum health would amount to about 300 damage. (She had 1812 health at end game. So 48% is 869.76. How did that low of magic resist reduce 869.76 to 300? I even had liandry's. Check my match history if you need to. Was having problems on more than just her though, the whole enemy team was the same way.

Match history is linked under the "link" above. As you can see from my build/runes, I have plenty of magic pen to negate most of their magic resist. And I know my abilities were working because I was doing nearly 1k with my Q's 3rd hit (1800 to minions). So you can't tell me it was my magic pen or lack of AP.

Lastly, I've attached a pic for quick reference of end game builds for everyone (someone else I especially had problems with getting damage on my ult was Annie, yet she had 3 freaking item 3089s. How did I not demolish her with my ult?!)

Thank you for your time.

It's LOOKED like it hasn't done very much when I've seen it in streams, but that's really not valid evidence on my part. I will point out, though, that I think you're very much underestimating how much MR that Lux had; She had 105 MR without accounting for any possible rune or mastery amounts. I'm not really sure what typical runes are for a mage like Lux, though, so maybe she wouldn't have much more than that.

It's pretty hard to judge this sort of thing after the fact, though. A lot of things can happen in a fight to mitigate damage; Lux alone could probably cast her shield twice over the 10 second duration. Trying to test this in a controlled environment like a custom would work a lot better.

edit: oh, you can check those from history. huh. Only 12 MR from runes, none from masteries. Lux player interestingly didn't even have 30 mastery points.

Lux had 75 mr from items (50 abyssal, 25 athene's) and 30 mr from being level 18. That makes 105, so just over 50% reduction of magic damage. Did she use heal during your ult?

To answer Archon and address DreamLeviathan at the same time - Lux never did anything to mitigate damage the whole time my ult was on her. Never shielded and there were times during that game that I hit her with my ult and she was at maybe 300 health and it would just plink about 100 off the top and then just burn until she was almost dead then wear off.

That game was very frustrating. 105 MR or not, 48% damage should have destroyed Lux at low health. Same with Annie as I mentioned at the end. Annie had 3 Deathcaps and still wouldn't die from my ult. As OP as my Q was (and that WAS dealing quite a bit of damage), my ult is pretty much useless in comparison.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, didn't even know how this discussion board worked and just noticed I had comments. Thanks for your replies.
