Double clicking on a champion avatar icon in banning phase causes buggy behavior

While the countdown is ticking for banning a champion, when I double click a champion avatar icon it gives repeated popup alerts: 'The champion you have selected has already been banned', and also prevents clicking the 'ban champion' button from working at that point unless I select I different champion.

My game client is version: League of Legends 7.5.17_03_02_13_19 (windows)

I have recently experienced the same exact bug, except for no other reason than clicking ONCE on the champion avatar. I should mention this is after typing the first few letters in the search field to narrow the list. I click once on the avatar icon, but the 'ban' button is greyed out, and a few seconds go by (in which chat is not functioning) and then I get the same popup 'The champion you have selected has already been banned'. Very frustrating.
