League Voice Not Working on Mac

Problem: When I am in a party and turn on League Voice, all sounds from the League (both in game and out) start sounding like they're being played through an early 2000s flip phone. On top of that, the people I am playing with cannot hear me unless I switch to the "press to talk" option.

Notes:

League Voice has worked for me in the past. I stopped playing for about 8 months from winter of 2018 to early summer of 2019. When I started playing again, the issue arose. I use Airpods. I have tried also using wired headphones, but to no avail. I have troubleshot by changing my mac output settings to both headphones and internal microphone. This changed nothing. I tried using Discord. The person I am talking to can hear me then, but all sound from League turns to garbage. Any help is appreciated
