Weird phenomenon with Tahm Devour and Camille Ult

Can someone explain to me why tahm is able to devour someone that is targeted by a camille ult and then proceed to carry them outside of it? Wouldn't it make more sense if he could devour but had to stay in the ult? That would make more since than if he instantly spit them back out before the camille ult was finished and they just magically appear right back in it. I don't know if someone could elaborate on as to why this happens.
