Didn't get reward from hextech crate

So yesterday I played a match of league and one of my teammates got s rank performance. So, I received a hextech chest. I opened it with my key and got an emote. But it never showed up in my collection. I wasted a key to get literally nothing. What happened that resulted in me not actually receiving my reward?
