When yi initiates dragon by himself you get the typical knockback move followed up with dragons first attack. now anytime master yi alpha strikes after that (again when he is solo'ing the dragon), the fight does a soft reset, and dragon knocks him back gaining some health with the wind animation. its only when yi is solo'ing dragon and happens at any level. (solo dragon lvl 4 and up). is this intended?

You have to time your alpha at just the right moment to avoid this. Yi goes off the map for that half second so the dragon doesn't register him being around when it looks to attack again. You have to alpha at just the right moment to dodge damage from the fireball and not reset the drake. Practice it in a custom and you'll get it.
Is it a timing issue or a set up issue? Any time during the fight it resets when u aloha strike. What I mean is where you have to stand to not reset it
you have to pull back immediately after the alpha strike to avoid getting knocked back
