Kindred Stacks on Scuttle

I attempted to get a stack from a marked scuttler. Once I killed it and the other time it was an assist on it. I did not get a stack either time. I played them as adc so i didn't have the machete or smite. I still received them from marked champions (kills or assists). I had under 6 stacks and they were being marked.
