Queuing ARAM put me in Blind pick

I queued ARAM to play a quick game and level up and I ended up in a blind norms. The same happened a few days ago as well when me and a friend duo queued ARAM and were put in a blind norms. It only happened when we first logged into client and was the first game we played.
