Garen Spin Not Critting

Have been playing Garen recently and decided to buy some crit items like infinity edge so my spin hurts more, but I realized that after purchasing the item no crits proc'd on my e the entire game. Normally a garen e crit had a visual animation. Might be a bug with the animation or just garens e not critting like intended.
